note that in the traditional class system, the cross-class promotion was equally possible for both sexes (through heroic deeds or through heroic beauty).

keys to fixing marriage:
- societal support & enforcement
- align incentives for facilitators for few "attempts"
- be frank that not everybody is best off with a family; provide good alternative tracks through life.
