Thread on #AyurvedicSurgeons

I have been quiet on this issue because I have read history of medicine in India & written about it in my published articles. You can check them out on my blog

Ayurveda got stoned by the British during the period they ruled India. Let us agree that+
Let us also agree that the tradition of Guru Shishya Parampare was lost during this period in Ayurveda.

Creation of Medical Register & Registered Medical Practitioners where traditional medicine doctors including Ayurveda were not registered literally killed Ayurveda practices+
Ayurveda practitioners of 18th & early 19th century had to face lot of problems because of this.

Did you know that Apothecaries & Doctors of Allopathic medicine were the first brown sahibs??

The labourers estates of South India were converted to churchi using their influence
Traditional medicine had to be reigned in to use modern medicine as manna & to convert the unwashed masses where their God had not reached.

I am happy that Traditional medicine is getting its due now. However it should not become Ayurveda vs Allopathy like it is depicted now +
Surgery is a specialised branch of Healthcare. As a hospital administrator I know how difficult it is to ensure that the patient gets the best care.

Do you know that Operation theatres have undergone sea change just in past 20 years. Even the air inside changed every few minutes
Surgery is not just about cutting a patient who is willing to subject himself to such a procedure. It is team work.

It starts with design of operation theatres which cause less pain, mental agony & infection to the patient undergoing surgery.

Then comes Anesthesia.
In the past 175 years since Anesthesia emerged I can proudly say that this speciality has been responsible for the advancement of every department of Surgery.

Today it is huge speciality with lot of responsibility & various sub specialities like Cardiac, Neuro, Obstetric etc.
Then there is CSSD (Sterilisation) & Antibiotics. Understanding CSSD & helping the patient by ensuring that he is least exposed to opportunistic infections during stressful per operative period forms the crux of team work.

Surgery is not about operation. At best it is 10% of it.
After above conditions are met, we go to actual operation where operators (surgical team) are involved. Each surgery is unique & a challenge to the team. On top of it we have 20 different departments doing 500 different surgeries

It is not Model T car to be put on assembly line.
My son had to undergo a complex ENT procedure, we chose a surgeon who had 30+ years experience & did the procedure in a fully equipped theatre where every possible complications could be addressed.

I will never want anything less for any patient of mine or for any person.
What I want to say is; the operating team will have cumulative experience of 50 to 100 years before embarking on a surgery on a patient who has consented for it.

As a hospital administrator I will not allow a rookie surgeon who has just passed his MS to operate on patients
The operating team & the key surgeon should have proven track record before I allow them to operate in our hospital. It is the case in most hospitals where surgeries are done today

I do not know if Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) has understood this complexities fully
India today is a nation of laws. Equality is everything.

Can we allow a patient to get substandard treatment by a doctor who is not trained & evaluated just because he is poor ??

I am sorry that the British & successive Govts did not allow Ayurvedic medicine/surgery to develop
However if Ayurveda wants to start doing surgery today we will not accept it unless they know Anesthesia, per op care & post op care.

I am not saying this because I practice allopathy but because I am a hospital administrator. Today my concerns are different & wholesome.
I will not accept a team with less than 50 years cumulative experience to operate on patients.

So if Ayurvedic Surgeons have to do surgery in the most equipped theatres they have to do MS Surgery & work for 10 years as assistant to the chief Surgeon.

Patients come first
I am happy the world recognises Sushruta for his contribution to Surgery but that was a long time ago. Centuries ago.

I am not going to allow you to bask in his glory. You better prove yourself if you have to operate on our patients.

Allopathic or Ayurvedic does not matter.

So slowly we are talking about Infection Fatality Rate

According to CDC of US it is 0.65% for Americans

32 million Americans less than 10% population has been infected by Covid

Regional Antibody studies show that it varies from place to place also varies dramatically with age.
For example only 0.003% of people less than 19 years of age showed antibodies to Covid virus whereas 5.4% were positive for antibodies among 70+ age group.

Why was not answered convincingly. We do not know why susceptible are infected more.
If you are above 85 years & you get infected then there is 28+% chance that you will die of Covid.

75 - 84 years it is 18% death if Covid positive

65 - 74 it is 8%

50 - 64 it is 2%

39 - 49 it is 0.6%

29 - 38 it is 0.2%

Teenage to 28 it is 0.06%

Twinkle age it is 0.02%

550 that is the number of Doctors dead due to Covid contracting it while treating Covid patients & in India

67 doctors are dead in similar fashion in Karnataka.
Case Fatality Rate for Covid among doctors treating Covid patients & non Covid patients is 36.4.

This is more than 22 times the the CFR of non doctor population of India which is 1.6.

Post Covid Syndrome is also more seen among doctors.

Doctors running OPDs are worst affected.
Pvt Doctors are not covered under Govt insurance for Covid warriors which is gross injustice while doctors working in Govt hospitals have not got leave in last 7 months making them more vulnerable to Covid infection.

#COVID19India

Are we entering a phase of "Pathological Science"?

Is there a big factor of wishful thinking in analysis of Chinese Virus?

Are we in N Ray mode?

Tough questions to answer but who will do it?

We have bureaucratic nincompoops running the show busy in corruption
The vaccine manufacturing guy wants Rs 80000 crores to provide vaccine to Indians.
Q
1) Is is vaccine safe?
2) Is it efficient?
3) How long does immunity last?
4) What is the cost of production per dose?
5) What is the price for end user?
6) Will CFR go below 1.5% on vaccination? Image
This is a trick of Pseudo Science practitioners.

Why would a manufacturer want the govt run @MoHFW_INDIA to buy vaccines without having answers to all above questions?

He has set it up nicely for politicians & bureaucrats to intervene?

Do you think state Govts will let it go?

#COVID19

Everyone should work together to break the cycle of transmission.

Treat those who do not wear masks & show false bravado with contempt

I understand that work restart is necessary for livelihood of all try to maintain social distancing at work

Wash hands 5 times/day
If someone is positive in your close circle get yourself tested voluntarily & isolate yourself till results come.

If positive tell your immediate contacts to do the same. You will be taken care of so do not worry, authorities will contact you & do the needful.

Break the cycle
#Bangalore #COVID19 is turning out to be dangerous combination.

The first peak has not plateaued already there is secondary peak joining it. Situation will worsen if ppl don't contribute.

We need to work with authorities understand that we are part of team to overcome Covid.

So it is clear now, there is more good news on #COVID19

There was a study done using blood samples collected in US between 2015 to 2018, yes long before Covid19 was known to world, when virus was introduced to these blood samples the "t cells" which are memory bank reacted to it
So this virus is not "Novel" as described by WHO right? Not really, as this is most probably an engineered virus

Across the world, studies being published where samples collected from people not exposed show t cell response to this not so novel virus.
NY
Madrid
Japan
Germany etc
It is possible that these studies which show 18% to 50% of people react to this virus by t cell activation because the Novel Corona virus is recognised by t cells in these natives, as it carries the antigens of old common cold causing Corona virus.

Why was this virus created?

What is happening regarding Covid?

Well it is mostly good news. Slowly understanding is dawning on many issues hitherto not understood.

Fear of Covid is gone. Currently case fatality rate of less than 1.6 ; however in my understanding it should be much less

Why?
Read on
Early on contact tracing was inefficient & ineffective due to various factors biggest contribution was from sloppy work of authorities. This allowed Covid to spread horizontally across communities across cities across states.

Thankfully many in public did not manifest symptoms
Here in lies the fallacy of CFR, it estimates fatalities based on patients who were diagnosed positive while many primary & secondary contacts did not show symptoms, did not get checked & were not included in CFR

According to few this could be additional 100-150% of +ve cases
