Republicans haven't learned the lesson not to mess around with elections and democracy. They've learned that their slapdash effort wasn't enough this time so they'll be more methodical next time.
The effort of too many pundits to just make this a Trump thing and claim Republicans are scared or humoring him is just emboldening Republicans to be smarter about stealing elections in the future. Everybody knows exactly what they're doing here.
Things aren't just bad. They are far worse than most people want to admit. Normalcy bias is a hell of a drug.

Huge transparency and public health issue. And the House isn't the only entity that won't disclose. The Supreme Court won't either.
Also let's be clear: Some Republicans don't want to disclose covid diagnoses because it hurts their agenda of opposing any broad response to the pandemic. There's a reason why Dems have been more likely to disclose. But the public is the real loser here.
