I’m at the #Pfizer manufacturing plant in Portage, Mich., for @freep this morning, where 3 semi-trucks have pulled into a loading dock, and are getting filled with doses of the nation’s first #COVID-19 vaccines. #vaccines#CovidVaccine
#Pfizer plans to ship out 6.4 million doses in this initial batch of its #COVID-19 vaccine today. Most of it will come from this Michigan manufacturing site, which had 600 workers dedicated to the #coronavirus vaccine project. @freep#CovidVaccines
A small crowd of local residents began to gather outside the #Pfizer plant in the pre-dawn hours Sunday. Among them was Joyce Huthcheson, 76, of Portage, who said she didn’t want to miss the historic moment when these #COVID-19 vaccines ship out. @freep#CovidVaccine
Nancy Galloway, 63, of Plainwell is outside the #Pfizer plant, too.
“I had to come down here,” she said, noting she’s making a scrapbook from the pandemic that her nieces/nephews will be able to pass down through the generations. @freep#COVID#CovidVaccine
Susan Deur, 62, of Plainwell stood outside #Pfizer’s manufacturing plant in Portage Sunday morning, waiting for the first semi-trucks loaded with its #CovidVacvine to head out. She says she’ll get the vaccine when it’s her turn. “I’m proud of our Pfizer,” she said. @freep
The FedEx, UPS and Boyle Transportation trucks loaded with the nation's first doses of #COVID-19 vaccine are on the road, led by an unmarked police car and tailed by a second unmarked vehicle. They pulled out of #Pfizer's manufacturing plant near Kalamazoo about 8:25 a.m. @freep
The trucks filled with #Pfizer's #coronavirus vaccine were met by cheering crowds who clapped as they pulled out of the Portage, Michigan, manufacturing hub, headed for distribution centers and airports. @freep#CoronavirusVaccine#CovidVaccine
