How can we as a country help to prevent another election mess?
We can demand that our Congressional representatives attach conditions / deny funding to PA, WI, MI, and GA until they show proof that their elections administration is acceptable. Spending power is powerful.

The National Voter Registration Act should be amended to include provisions about the types of equipment/voting machines that can be used and what kind of safeguards they must have. Our congressional representatives have the power to do this. We need to call on them to do so.

Going forward, Americans must make election reform a political priority. The Courts aren’t the right avenue, Congress is. Instead of wasting time and money supporting fruitless litigation efforts, we must change course and instead we must focus on pressing our representatives.

I don’t distinguish between Presidential and Congressional federal elections in my column. Since the election is one and the same for all intensive purposes, the laws protecting Congressional election integrity will automatically protect the presidential candidate on the ballot.
(There is a bit of a distinction between the two, but the complexity isn’t worth differentiating for purposes of this argument. Congress doesn’t need to say “Presidential election.” All candidates’ names go on a single piece of paper, the distinction is thus irrelevant.)
