ICYMI: the Chinese embassy's claim is clearly not true for Uighur Muslims

1.China built 100s of internment camps in Xinjiang, detaining 100,000s of Uighur Muslims
2. Forced sterilisation cases uncovered in Xinjiang
3. 1000s of Xinjiang mosques destroyed or damaged (65% of total)
4. Merely practising Islam is considered suspicious behaviour

hrw.org/news/2020/12/0…
5. This is not new - in 2015, China banned Muslims from fasting in Ramadan
aljazeera.com/news/2015/6/18…
State denial of ethnic cleansing surely meets the threshold of Twitter adding a note highlighting there is a dispute about this Chinese propaganda?

The Home Office review on "grooming gangs" finally published concludes:

1. “links between ethnicity and this form of offending” could not be proven
2. “Research has found that group-based child sexual exploitation (CSE) offenders are most commonly white"
independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/…
“Some studies suggest an over-representation of black and Asian offenders relative to the demographics of national populations. However, it is not possible to conclude that this is representative of all group-based CSE offending.”
The document said there were issues with the data used in existing studies, sample selection and a “potential for bias and inaccuracies”

Assume this is referring to studies like the Quilliam report that was widely debunked by experts at the time, yet was cited in national papers

It is important to realise that Julie Burchill has a documented history of hate of Muslims & Islam, which is well known, yet has no bearing on her being a columnist at The Telegraph.

Thread
Akin Ajayi in Haaretz, highlights how those who "makes the mistake of mentioning Muslims sympathetically in her presence" are her enemies.

Julie herself admits that she had a serious problem with her rabbi because she wanted to build bridges between Muslims and Jews.

Telegraph columnist Julie Burchill should be ashamed of her repulsive tweet:

1. She got her facts wrong: Prophet Muhammad (SAW)'s first wife was a 40 yr old successful businesswoman

2. Why bring in the Prophet to a discussion about Liddle - only because Ash is a Muslim?
3. More importantly, why is she defending Liddle's disgusting article, where he “could not remotely conceive of not trying to shag the kids" (under-age and against the law -> would be considered rape)?
The reality is that columnists like Burchill make a conscious choice:

A) Attack Muslims like Ash
B) Defend people like Rod Liddle despite his long history of awful, racist & misogynist & hateful articles

Yesterday, Conservative MP Mike Fabricant
1. Attacked me for highlighting Islamophobia in his Party due to it harming "Anglo-Muslim relations"
2. Deflected by telling me to focus on antisemitism
3. RTed someone who says Muslims are a "backward cult" & "medieval in mind & actions"
4. RTed someone who thinks Tommy Robinson is not a racist, thinks there are no far-right extremists who need to be countered & that Islam is a threat

This was all just yesterday, where he said my gathering of evidence demonstrated "spite" & "unpleasantness"
He has a history.

For example, he previously shared a picture of Sadiq Khan as a pig i.e. it is him being a Muslim that is somehow relevant?

FYI: Islamophobes similarly use the pig as a means of attacking Muslims e.g. bacon at mosques.

My name is Miqdaad Versi.

This tweet RTed by Conservative MP Michael Fabricant, is yet another demonstration of his awful behaviour & ignorance

ICYMI: I was on TV & have tweeted extensively about @LabourMuslims report on Labour Islamophobia
But that doesn't stop me highlighting the (bigger) structural problem of Islamophobia in the Conservative Party.

I've taken a screenshot in case he deletes his RT without apology again
This is a Conservative MP RTing "Jill" who thinks Muslims are "a backward cult", are "medieval in mind and actions", follow a religion which "causes MH problems" (mental health), whilst calling to perhaps "shut down Muslims and mosques"

When @Conservatives see an "Anglo-Muslim" trope from an MP, who also asks a Muslim to ignore Islamophobia & focus on Labour antisemitism, do they show zero tolerance?

No, they *praise* him “He is raising an important point"

Who will hold them to account?
theguardian.com/politics/2020/…
It should be truly shocking to see such a callous response from the Party but it's just their modus operandi.

They say: "The Conservative party does not tolerate prejudice and discrimination.”

But their actions show the opposite.
The relative silence from most sections of the media commentariat, is deeply hurtful & shows how little it matters in the public space, when the victim of racism is a Muslim.

Who will hold the @Conservatives to account for this latest example of their denial, dismissal & deceit?
