CRT & Christianity.

It’s not a tool; it’s a worldview. A worldview is like sunglasses that change the shade of everything you see.

A derivative of Marxism, it categorizes the world as oppressed vs. oppressor, but, unlike Marxism, these categories are based on race, not class.
That means everything—every policy, every personal interaction—is viewed through the lens of this racial oppressor/oppressed dynamic.

CRT asserts that white people are oppressors & black people are oppressed, regardless of an individual’s actual actions or life outcomes.
There’s much more to explain there, and I have 5 podcast episodes dedicated to it thanks to the help of people much more knowledgeable in it than me.

I want to focus on how CRT will inevitably affect a person’s understanding of Scripture, the church & the gospel.
If you view the world as non-white oppressed vs white oppressors, that will include how you read the Bible, changing how you read a verse like, Ps 103:6 “The Lord works...justice for all who are oppressed.” or Is. 49:6 “I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh...”
Neither of these verses is referring to racial categories. There are people of all races who God would include in the oppressed category in Ps. 103:5, & Is. 49 is talking about the restoration of Israel. But CRT gives a reader no option but apply its own racial categories.
CRT leads us to not only get Biblical interpretation wrong, but the gospel. We will believe Jesus came to defeat those considered insufficiently anti-racist white people & liberate non-white people, assigning guilt/innocence, damnation/salvation, evil/righteousness based on race.
That view inspires sermons that preach repentance to white congregants but not to non-white congregants. This, obviously, serves an eternal disservice to those who believe certain groups aren’t *as* responsible for sin as others. Won’t cut it on Judgment Day.
Do pastors care about the souls of their black, brown, & white congregants? Then they have to preach the same gospel to all of them.

This said, it’s true:

1) People are different.
- Differences in experience, ethnicity, etc are good & should be honored & listened to.
2) Racism is a sin.
- All hate, including that based on race, is evidence of not loving God (1 Jn 4:20). Where prejudice exists, it needs to be pointed to & defined—clearly—& addressed Biblically. We cannot simply repeat worldly talking points and borrow secular solutions.
CRT is seen anywhere race is elevated as the primary identifier, race is used to categorize people as oppressed vs oppressor, interpretations of Scripture are done through the lens of race, all disparities are claimed to be evidence of oppression...
“lived experience” trumps truth, partiality is celebrated, Biblical justice is replaced by “social justice,” which seeks to hold back one group while pushing forward another group in the name “equity.”
It is not a tool to solve racism. It, like its source Marxism, will drive apart & divide. “Move back from it.”

As always, leftism gets human nature wrong. The reason many leftists defend “sex work” is because leftism is based on the worldview of materialism, which asserts that human beings are just clumps of matter. Thus, sex isn’t special. Thus, making money doing it is fine.
But the fact that the industries are rife with exploitation, abuse, addiction, depression & suicide belies leftist’s claims that “sex work” is just as moral as accounting. Sex is different, because humans aren’t clumps of matter. We’re whole people with hearts and souls.
Thus we were made for commitment, connection and relationship. We weren’t made to be objectified, whether we consent to it or not. It will always depress us & leave us unfulfilled, because we were made for more.

One more thought about CRT & Christianity, as well as “Christian Nationalism.” The theology inspired by CRT is Black Liberation Theology. See last thread for explanation. My assertion is that Black Liberation Theology & Christian Nationalism are similar forms of idolatry.
BLT centers black liberation in its understanding of Christianity and Scripture. CN centers American liberation. BLT sees the eternal fight as between non-white folks and white oppressors. CN sees the eternal fight as between patriots & globalists.
BLT sees black people’s journey as analogous to Israel’s history. CN sees America’s journey that way. They both believe “their” people as the *real* chosen people. (I explained what CN actually is in a thread yesterday.)

Some of the same people who complain that critics of Critical Race Theory don’t define our terms (we do) use the phrase “Christian nationalism” without the slightest clue about what they’re saying. Honestly, I think I have a better grasp on what it is than most people who use it.
And it’s crazy how many REFUSE to define it! It’s the same Kafka trap we see from White Fragility crowd: if you have to ask, or if you defend yourself, you’re guilty. But here’s what I’ve gathered CN *actually* means vs how people erroneously mean it:
The belief that America is God’s chosen nation, that we are who is prophesied about in the OT, not Israel or the church. That our righteousness is tied to patriotism, &, as of this era, patriotism is tied to Trump support. Therefore part of being a christian is supporting Trump.

The policy of shutting down schools & businesses is rooted in a secular, materialist worldview that views humans as merely bodies. Thus it prioritizes “stopping” a physical illness at the expense of a person’s emotional and spiritual well-being.
It’s a good lesson in how leftism views people—with a lopsided emphasis on nurture over nature. Leftism is based on this erroneous materialist view of humans as malleable objects that can adapt to the wishes of the political & cultural powers that be.
In the context of COVID restrictions, the idea from the left is that people will be fine, especially if we give them $ to live. But people need more than $. People need interaction, community, spiritual nourishment, purpose found through productivity.

Ironically, many of the people calling this tweet privileged are the same ones who fight against school choice & support teachers unions, both of which actively work against underprivileged students...
My stance is: every parent, regardless of socioeconomic status, should have options in their child’s education. School choice programs that allow $ to follow the child rather than funding institutions create competition between schools that incentivizes better spending & teaching
In some cases, the local public school may very well be the best option for their child. But if not, they should have the freedom & funds to go elsewhere. Teachers unions fight against this, bc, like most left wing institutions, they don’t like competition or accountability.

Read your piece, and I wish you would have consulted with a Christian pro-lifer before writing it, because there are some glaring misunderstandings. Here to help:

1) "The Bible never directly discusses abortion:" Abortion is murder. The biblical command against murder is clear.
2) "[Exodus 21:22] suggests that the Bible treats a fetal life as less than a human life:" No, it doesn't. The passage says that unintentionally causing a woman requires a fine. That's because it's manslaughter, which God views/punishes differently than murder (Ex. 21:13)
Furthermore, you distinguishing "human life" from "fetal life" is unscientific nonsense. Whether or not you believe fetuses have inherent value, they are human beings. That's a biological fact.
