One more thought about CRT & Christianity, as well as “Christian Nationalism.” The theology inspired by CRT is Black Liberation Theology. See last thread for explanation. My assertion is that Black Liberation Theology & Christian Nationalism are similar forms of idolatry.
BLT centers black liberation in its understanding of Christianity and Scripture. CN centers American liberation. BLT sees the eternal fight as between non-white folks and white oppressors. CN sees the eternal fight as between patriots & globalists.
BLT sees black people’s journey as analogous to Israel’s history. CN sees America’s journey that way. They both believe “their” people as the *real* chosen people. (I explained what CN actually is in a thread yesterday.)
Both get it wrong. They de-center Jesus from Scripture & replace the true chosen people- His Church- with their own represented groups. They both make the eternal story of God’s redemption about something it’s not about. They make the gospel something very earthly & small.
Yes, the gospel absolutely has earthly implications. But not the implications these ideologies think. Plus, earth is not where the gospel ends. And we’re not the stars of the show. Christ is, and he came to liberate everyone of all backgrounds who is oppressed by sin.
