But don't fret - if you miss it, I'll have the report for you later today.
From the FDA advisory meeting happening now - some background is underlined, including that this is well-understood science that has helped us create this vaccine.
Melissa Moore, chief scientific officer for Moderna’s platform research: "The vaccine has no capacity to alter DNA."
It is transient, remains in cytoplasm until eliminated naturally. To alter it, it would have to gain access to the nucleus & reverse transcribe.
"Our mRNA contains no signals for nuclear access or reverse transcription," Melissa Moore underlines.

Now: Incoming White House Senior Advisor and Director of the Office of Public Engagement @RepRichmond has tested positive for Covid-19.
@CourthouseNews Image
According to Biden transition spokeswoman Kate Bedingfield, the interactions Richmond had with @JoeBiden happened "in open air, were masked and totaled less than 15 consecutive minutes, the @CDCgov timeframe for close contact.
@CourthouseNews
The difference in transparency here is really something.
Per Bedingfield:
Richmond's symptoms cropped up on Dec. 16, he took a rapid test that came back positive.
The Biden team's standard protocol after an initial positive test is to take a PCR, which he did on Thursday.

#BREAKING: The FDA advisory board has voted to authorize the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use. More on this in my report soon for @CourthouseNews.
To be super clear on this because the language is subtle and easily confused - and something that came up during today's hearing - This is the advisory panel that has agreed to emergency use approval, the final approval comes from the FDA and that is expected over the weekend.
DEVELOPING.
A second Covid-19 vaccine was recommended for emergency use by advisers to the Food and Drug Administration on Thursday, meaning distribution nationwide could start as soon as next week.

.@RepDebHaaland is poised to become Interior Secretary, a historic first and a major shakeup to a department that has, for four years now, been deeply entrenched in a top-down pattern of regulatory rollbacks and often, lack of access and transparency around environmental issues.
Julia Bernal, executive director of the @puebloalliance, commended President-elect @JoeBiden's pick saying:

“Congresswoman Deb Haaland has the unique perspective on how culturally important our lands are in the Southwest."
"Being an Indigenous womxn from Laguna Pueblo, she has advocated for the protection of our ancestral cultural landscapes from the oil and gas industry that has spiraled out of control under the Trump Administration."

(To wit, a tweet from the pick today: )

DC will never have pizza at the quality of NY. Sorry. I say this as a native Washingtonian. NY rules them all. Stop trying. You can't do it. Like bagels or egg creams, DC, this isn't you, honey.
Now! If you want a stale pretzel from a sidewalk cart wildly overpriced and ice cold- no one does it better than Washington.
DC pizza shop owners - prove me wrong and serve me free pizza until I have decided whether to admit my error. I'll need to bring a friend for research purposes.

Today, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee meets for a hearing on the integrity of the 2020 election.
I'll have a report for you later today. The witnesses include @C_C_Krebs and Kenneth Starr.

@CourthouseNews
.@GaryPeters, after chair Ron Johnson delivered a minutes-long remark claiming fraud, without evidence, in the 2020 election (that echoed much of the same rhetoric from President Trump):
Entered into the record by Peters in this morning's hearing, was a log of the 60 failed attempts in court by Trump to overturn the 2020 election.

At SCOTUS, oral arguments for Collins v. Mnuchin are on deck at 10AM. Justices will wade into the thicket of unitary executive theory and consider the limits of presidential (and congressional) power and more.
@CourthouseNews
Today we're looking at whether existing rules for removal of the Fed. Housing Finance Agency's director is unconstitutional. Collins v. Mnuchin, brought by a group of Fannie Mae + Freddie Mac shareholders is similar to Seila Law v. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
There, the high court found that limitations on the executive branch's power to remove a federal official were incompatible with the Constitution.
