According to Biden transition spokeswoman Kate Bedingfield, the interactions Richmond had with @JoeBiden happened "in open air, were masked and totaled less than 15 consecutive minutes, the @CDCgov timeframe for close contact.

The difference in transparency here is really something.
Per Bedingfield:
Richmond's symptoms cropped up on Dec. 16, he took a rapid test that came back positive.
The Biden team's standard protocol after an initial positive test is to take a PCR, which he did on Thursday.

That PCR on 12/17 came back positive.
Tracing protocols were launched immediately and Richmond was apparently in "close contact with two individuals, neither of whom are Biden, Warnock or Ossoff staff. "

Those 2 people were folks who drove his car during the campaign trip in GA. They were notified and are self-quarantining.

Richmond will quarantine for 14 days and will need to produce two negative PCR tests before returning to work in Congress or with the Biden transition team.

"The protocols we have followed are consistent with protocols we followed during the campaign to ensure the safety of everyone involved," Bedingfield says.

Biden transition team: "We take all precautions possible, follow the best guidance of public health officials and remain committed to transparency and information sharing when positive tests do arise. We will continue to model this behavior at every opportunity."
