GOD HIMSELF WILL DO IT
(1st Peter 5:10)

My work colleague & I were invited to a wedding last Saturday: the son of our Chairman (a retired military officer & a Senator of the Federal Republic) was getting married.

Something interesting caught my attention at the reception...
😊
The MC invited some folks to the High Table, one of which was the Chairman of the reception, an ex-governor.
He was absent!
But he sent a representative.

I started wondering:
Why didn’t the ex-governor come?
Why send a representative...?
🤔
I concluded he either had another engagement that was more important to him than attending the reception.
Or the reception wasn't that important to him.

Whatever his reason for not coming was, he delegated someone else to represent him at the reception...
🙂
About 25 years ago, I was the Church Administrator of Rhema Chapel, Abeokuta Ogun State.
We invited Rev’d Sam Adeyemi as the guest speaker for a program.
He couldn't make it, he sent a representative.
We hosted the representative, but deep down, we wished Rev’d Sam came...!
😣
The representative is never as appreciated as the main person!
We had ushers with garlands waiting for the vehicle bringing him to come in.
They were instructed to hang the garlands on Rev'd Sam's neck when he arrived.
The car drove in & the ushers rushed towards it...
🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
Door opened, it was not Rev’d Sam!
The ushers were confused!
Should we hang these garlands on this guy?
But he’s not Rev’d Sam!
We the Church leaders were as confused as them!
There is always that confusion how to treat a representative:
😕
Should you give him the same treatment you had planned for the person he is representing?
🤔

Imagine you invite Goodluck Jonathan to your wedding & he has to spend a night in town. You'll make plans to accommodate him in a Presidential Suite in a 5 Star Hotel...
😇
But if he can’t make it & sends Reno Omokri to represent him, you’ll probably put him in one dingy hotel infested with rats & cockroaches!
😈

My point is, the representative does not always carry same clout as the person he is representing...
😎
Now, God also sends representatives sometimes.
And there are some cases He handles himself.
Those things are VERY IMPORTANT to Him: they cannot be delegated to representatives.

Going through the Scriptures, I noticed this trend...
😇
“And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden…”- Genesis 2:8
God planted this garden HIMSELF. It was that important to Him.

“And the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, made He a woman…”- Genesis 2:22
God PERSONALLY carried out this surgery.
He didn't delegate it.
“And Moses the servant of the Lord died… & He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab…”- Deuteronomy 34:5-6.
Imagine that! God buried Moses! Imagine God scooping out the soil & placing Moses' body in the ground & back-filling it Himself...
🤔
God also personally wrote the 10 Commandments on those 2 slabs for Moses. (Exodus 32: 15-16). GOD WROTE THEM WITH HIS HANDWRITING! He could have simply said, “Hey, Michael! Go write these 10 Commandments on those stone slabs for Moses!”
But He didn’t: He wrote them Himself...
✍️
In chapter 18 of the Book of Genesis, God personally came to talk to Abram on 2 issues: the birth of his son Isaac & the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah.
I imagine God sitting with Abram, talking as buddies! That was the exact scenario painted in that chapter...
🧔🧔
The birth of Isaac & the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah were that important to Him, He had to come give the information to Abram Himself.
I notice these seemingly little & insignificant things.
And I come to the conclusion there are some things God handles Himself.
😇
No P.A can handle them for Him, no Angel, Senior Special Assistant, Minister, Chief of Staff or Secretary to Government can handle them as effectively as Him, so He does not bother delegating.

But there are other places in scripture God sent representatives...
🙂
“O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee & stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent…”- Daniel 10:11

Daniel had been praying & after some days an angel came to him.
Notice what the angel said: “I was SENT”!
🧚‍♂️
God sent him to go answer Daniel’s prayer. God did not come Himself; there probably was something more important to do in that moment.

“And in the 6th month, the Angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin… Mary”- Luke 1:26-27
🧚‍♂️
In this case, God did not go meet Mary Himself: He sent a representative, Angel Gabriel.

I am wont to see the things God does Himself as very, VERY important to Him: that is the mindset I read the scriptures with:
What does God handle Himself, what does He delegate...?
🤔
Now, I read in 1st Peter 5:10 “But after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who calls you to share His eternal glory in union with Christ will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you.”
💪
In other words, your restoration, confirmation, strength & establishment are too important to God for Him to delegate them to a representative!

HE WILL DO THESE THINGS HIMSELF!
👍
He will PERSONALLY restore you.
He will PERSONALLY confirm you.
He will PERSONALLY strengthen you.
He will PERSONALLY establish you.
👏
If you really KNOW this, you will worry less about your situation & circumstance.
You will worry less about your suffering- it is for a little while.
You will be more excited about your future. You know why? BECAUSE GOD IS PERSONALLY INTERESTED IN IT!
😇
He said, “I alone know (you may be ignorant of it, it doesn’t matter!) the plans I have for you, plans to bring you to prosperity & not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for”- Jeremiah 29:11
🙏
Don’t let your ignorance of what He is doing weigh you down, people!
God is at work to make your life turn out right:
He is PERSONALLY committed to it!

Shalom!
Haruna Daniels.
😇

America experiences school shootings every year.
Presidents have come & gone, school shootings continue.
Has any president been accused of incompetence because of these shootings?

Truth be told, no matter your good intentions, there are some crimes you can't guard against...
I support Buhari 💯%, but I find it a tad silly when pro PMB folks accuse GEJ of incompetence because of Chibok Girls & pro GEJ folks throw same accusation at PMB because of Kankara Boys.

Can a President deploy soldiers to all schools in the country to avoid these abductions...?
Even the US with it's sophisticated security architecture can't do that!

9/11 still happened in the US despite their top notch security.
The whole thing was planned & executed on US soil, nobody knew about it until the plan was hatched.

President Bush couldn't stop it...

"Uncle Harry, I want to talk to you, please."
I looked up: my sister in-law.
"Ok, what's up?"
"You know I'll be getting married in a few months"
"Yeah, you told me: how's the preparation going?"
"We're trying, but we need your assistance for the wedding"
"Ok, what exactly?"
"There are a few things we want you to buy for us, uncle."
"Ok."

She handed me a folded A4 sheet of paper.
I opened it & saw a list of items:
Fridge.
Deep freezer.
Washing machine.
Gas cooker.
Microwave.
Television.

I folded it back.
I asked:
"You want me to buy you all these?"
"Yes, uncle H."
"Ok. Sorry- who are you getting married to again?"
Emeka."
"Good. Is this Emeka a man?"
"What do you mean, Uncle H? He's a man, nau!"
"Fine!"
I handed the folded A4 paper back to her:
"Give this to him. He's the one you're getting married to, not me!"

And God SAID, "Let there be light!"
And there was light.
-Genesis 1:3

God just spoke & BOOM! What didn't exist before came into existence!
His Spoken Word just created light.

Going further in that chapter, you'll notice a small difference as God continued Creation...
And God SAID, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters & let it divide the waters from the waters"- V6.

God spoke again.
But this time, there's a difference!
His Spoken Word did not create the firmament!
"And God MADE the firmament & divided the waters..."- V 7.
In other words, God spoke.
Then He went ahead to WORK OUT what He had spoken!

In the 1st instance, His Spoken Word created what He said.
In the 2nd instance, His Spoken Word didn't: He had to do something about it.

In vs 11-12, God spoke again & His Spoken Word created again...

MASS HYSTERIA
(Numbers 13,14)

Moses sent 12 men into the Promised Land.
He wanted them to go see what the Land looked like.

What kind of people are there?
Are they weak?
Are they strong?
Are there minerals there?
Is the land good for agriculture?
Do they have water bodies?...
Is it flat?
Is it hilly?
Whatever the land is like, go find out & come tell us.
They entered the Promised Land clandestinely.
They were spies, they did not want to be caught.
They knew it was a dangerous mission.

They came back after 40 days...
They faced a Judicial Panel to explain what they saw in the Promised Land.

“What we saw? We streamed it live on Instagram- didn’t you see it? We posted many pictures on Social Media! There were GIANTS there! They were at least 10 feet tall!

She came to town to collect her NYSC call up letter.
I drove her to the University.
She ran into a friend who told her some stories that had been flying around the campus about her.
She was angry!
Who started these stories? They're lies!
Her friend told her who: Janet.
We got to the office where she was to pick up the call up letter.
As she was signing for it, her friend rushed in: "Edith, I just saw Janet outside! The girl who started those stories about you!"
Edith quickly exits the office to go confront her.
I watched the scene, amused...
Edith was 23.
I was 45.
I called out, "EDITH!"
She turned.
I said, "DON'T!"
I didn't say more than that.
She stared at me for a while.

Her friends were egging her on.
She was torn between obeying me or giving in to the raging anger in her.
Her friends were not helping matters...

I think you miss MENTORSHIP, ma'am.
I'm a 51+ year old architect.
I have mentors in my field, architecture.
I have business mentors.
I have spiritual mentors.
I have people I consult before taking major decisions.

I'm not sure how many youths of today have mentors...
Before I got married, I asked my then fiancée, "If I ever get angry with you, if I lose it & you feel you can't reach me again, who do you think you can call & can talk to me, no matter how mad I get, I'd listen to him/her? Who do you think I respect & listen to, no matter what?"
She immediately mentioned a name.
And whenever we have any misunderstanding, she would call him, "My husband has gone mad again ooo!" ,😁
He'd call me & reset my head.

My point is, we have people we RESPECT, people we LISTEN to, people who GUIDE us through life...
