People talk about how many hours you should work each day, but...

HOW do you manage your time?

If you can DO MORE in LESS TIME...

You can grow your business AND enjoy your life!

Here's how you can start managing your time better...

THREAD
Time is the most precious resource.

Time management is THE most important skill you can have in life and business.

"It's the only thing you can't buy. I mean, I can buy anything I want basically but I can't buy time.”

- Warren Buffet, rich dude and hero of Money Twitter
1) SCHEDULING

A schedule is like a budget for your time.

If you don't have a budget, you're wasting money.

If you don't have a schedule, you're wasting time.

Let's fix that problem so you don't waste any more time!
First, grab a pen and paper.

Along the left side, write down the hours you're awake.

I mean the hours you're SUPPOSED to be awake...

For me, that's 6:00am to 10:00pm.

Your paper should look like this:
Next, start filling it in. Add your:

- bedtime
- waking time
- daily responsibilities (school, work, family)

Note: This page is for one day.

It's just an exercise to get you to see how scheduling works.
After you do this...

Start scheduling things in Google Calendar.

Same skill you just learned, but now it's easier!

It's nearly effortless to create, move, and edit events.

Just be sure to turn off notifications/reminders for events UNLESS it's important!
A few of my clients had issues with time management.

Once they tried scheduling like this, they said:

"Wow, I have so much open time!"

You have a lot of open time too.

It's just being wasted because you're not doing...
2) TIME BLOCKING

A time block, as its name implies, is a block of time that is dedicated to a task.

Start filling your Google Calendar with time blocks for:

- learning
- business work
- client/customer talks
But you should also fill it with time blocks for...

- exercise
- social media
- relaxing (gaming, Netflix)

That's right. Schedule your time to chill.

Have dedicated time for WORK and time for PLAY.

Do NOT multitask. Don't half-ass two things.

Whole-ass ONE thing.
Why should you time block?

If you PLAN to do something in advance,

you GREATLY increase the likelihood of you ACTUALLY doing that something.

If you fail to plan, you may as well be planning to fail.

This is supported by research. Look up "implementation intentions."
It also helps you keep track of everything you have going on in your life.

You need to be able to know whether you CAN and SHOULD say "yes" or "no" to something.

When you say "yes" to one thing, you're saying "no" to EVERYTHING ELSE you could be doing in that time block.
3) PRIORITIZATION

What if you can't decide what deserves to have a time block?

You need to start prioritizing things so you can decide.

Fast and easy prioritization starts with a brain dump.

"What's a brain dump?" I hear your brain ask. Well...
Grab your pen and paper again.

Write down everything you COULD do to achieve a goal of yours.

This will calm the raging chaos in your noggin, and it will give you a new perspective on the possibilities.

Brain dumping is one of the best things you can do when you're stuck.
Some will stand out as the highest priority.

Others will be low-priority (or not doable yet).

Give all of the high-priority tasks a time block.

Those will be your focus until you finish them and move on to the next tasks.
4) PROTECTING YOUR FOCUS

Time blocks are for focusing on the task you created them for.

Not half-assing the task while Joe Rogan blares in your ears as you check Twitter and watch Hulu.

Your focus is a precious resource.

Like Baby Yoda, it must be protected at all costs.
Social media and phone addiction are quite common these days.

Those addictions destroy focus and make it impossible to perform at your best.

Here are a few things you can do...
• Turn your phone notifications off

Even vibrations interrupt your focus. Put your phone on SILENT.

• Use the Freedom app and browser extension

Freedom blocks sites and apps during set time periods.

Sync up those periods with your important time blocks.
• Dopamine fasting

Social media creates the feedback loop below.

Taking a 24-72 hour break from social media, aka a dopamine fast, will help break this loop.

It's like how doing intermittent fasting reduces your sugar addiction and cravings.

I'll be here when you get back!
Your focus is the secret to doing MORE in LESS time.

In a world of distractions, focus is a superpower.

When you can FOCUS on the PRIORITIZED TIME BLOCKS in your SCHEDULE...

(had to pull it all together)

You can achieve more in two hours than most people achieve in two days.
Would you like help implementing this?

Are you stuck on something in your business or personal life?

Do you feel like the gears in your brain are locked up and can't move?

I've been there. It sucks. Here's how to get UNSTUCK.

[ A THREAD ]
What do you do when you get stuck?

If you're like most people, you push on.

Either you make progress, OR you beat yourself up for your lack of progress.

You blame yourself. You think you're weak. Lazy. Worthless.
You exhaust and frustrate yourself.

You get worn down and don't feel like doing other things.

You beat yourself up for that, too.

You're stuck because you never give yourself a break.

"If you want to master something, teach it"

~ Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman

A sensible quote, sure... but what does it mean?

Feynman had a special way to learn FAR more than his peers

Here's how you can use the legendary "Feynman Technique" yourself:

(THREAD)
Step 1) Teach it to a child

Imagine you're going to explain what you know about your chosen topic to a 12-year-old

You'd have to use simple words and concepts, right?

Yes - that's exactly the point
As Albert Einstein (another pretty smart dude) said:

If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough

To be able to explain something SIMPLY, you must first understand it DEEPLY

If you have to use jargon and technical terms, you don't understand it well yet

Self-doubt is killing you.

But NO LONGER.

Here's how you can easily overcome self-doubt.

< thread >
Self-doubt is a survival mechanism.

Your brain's #1 job is to KEEP YOU ALIVE.

It's evolved a system to avoid perceived threats.

When you're threatened, your brain responds to keep you safe.
One of the most threatening things is UNCERTAINTY.

When you're faced with a new situation, like:

- a new job

- new people

- starting a new hobby/business

That new situation is unfamiliar. It's uncertain.

It's THREATENING.

Video game addiction is one of the hardest habits to get rid of.

If you have one of these 5 signs, it's time to stop.

Unless you'd rather turn out like the WoW guy from South Park...

\\ THREAD //
1) Feeling irritable/anxious when you can't play

Your brain is a reward-chasing machine.

Games frequently reward you with dopamine.

These rewards keep you hooked.

When you can't play, you don't get the rewards.

Your brain isn't happy til it gets the next fix.
2) Obsessively thinking about games

Your brain is also a problem-solving machine.

It's constantly trying to solve problems to get MORE dopamine.

When you're away from games, you're still thinking about them.

Trying to figure out how to get that next gear upgrade or whatever.

Alcohol is a trap that will destroy your life if you let it.

Here are 10 things alcohol ads will never tell you:

///THREAD///
1) It slows down your brain

When alcohol binds to a brain cell

It prevents that cell from firing a signal.

This causes your brain activity to slow down.

That’s why you feel relaxed when you first start drinking.

You may also feel less anxiety and stress.
2) It lowers your inhibitions

Alcohol slows down brain regions involved in:

- inhibitions
- decision making
- reasoning and clear thinking

When you’re uninhibited and can’t think straight

You make dumb decisions you normally wouldn’t.
