COMPLIMENTS OF THE SEASON

Christmas is the day, in the calendar of Christendom, that marks the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
It is a commemoration that connects the world to love, selflessness, sacrifice and solidarity; which are the virtues that Christ unambiguously propagated.
Jesus' message of salvation speaks to the essence of both spiritual deliverance and earthly redemption. It is a constant reminder that humanity will have a more peaceful existence if people of the world rededicate themselves to friendship, kindness and compassion.
People have been through so much in 2020, including navigating the snares of the deadly novel #COVID19 pandemic. At Christmas the world needs love. This is the spirit we have to imbibe to heal all that is broken in our world.
#MerryChristmas to all our compatriots and the rest of humanity.

GOODWILL MESSAGE TO UNITED STATES PRESIDENT-ELECT JOE BIDEN AND VICE-PRESIDENT ELECT KAMALA HARRIS

I congratulate President-elect, Joe Biden, and Vice President-elect, Kamala Harris, on their victory at the November 3, 2020 US Presidential election.
Their election is not just historic, it is also futuristic in the sense that it gives us a glimpse of what the future will be-a world where race, gender and religion do not matter as much as competence and capacity.
The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour, and based on his tenure as Vice President of the United States of America, between 2008 and 2016, I am fully persuaded that as President, Mr Biden will provide national and global leadership that will set the post...

NIGERIA AT 60: WE SHOULD NOT DESPAIR
I congratulate all Nigerians as we celebrate our 60th Independence Anniversary. Today is another unique day in our nation's history. It marks six decades of the anniversary of our self-rule.
It is an occasion that commemorates our political freedom.
Sixty years ago, we made a procession of victory, as we bade farewell to colonialism and emancipated our lands from the clutches of servitude.
It was a day of hope, promises and great expectations amplified by the reality of freedom and the vista of vast opportunities. We may not have met all the expectations and fulfilled all the promises that came with our independence.

TRIBUTE TO LATE FLYING OFFICER, TOLULOPE
AROTILE

My heart goes out to the family and colleagues of late flying officer, Tolulope Arotile.
She was a brave patriot who pushed her self beyond limits to demonstrate her uncommon love for our dear nation.
In the process, she made us all proud. In 2011 when my administration introduced females into the Nigeria Defence Academy to train as combatants, for the first time, it was to give equal opportunities to all men and women of the armed forces and encourage highly driven female...
...officers like Tolulope to excel in her chosen career, irrespective of their gender. I feel sad that such a young gallant officer would die at the prime of her life.

It has been a decade since His Excellency President Umar Musa Yar'Adua was snatched by the cold hands of death. On this day, every year, his image fills our consciousness as a mark of  his selflessness, typical modesty and exceptional flair.
He was a President like no other who lived and died for the sake of his country. He stood on the side of the people, toiling day and night to make their lives better.
President Yar'Adua built strong bridges of hope, love and understanding for which he became a force for national unity and positive change across our blessed land.

I extend my best wishes to all Christian faithful in Nigeria and around the world as we celebrate this year's Easter. It is a moment of thanksgiving as well as an opportunity to reflect on the benefits of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Image
From Holy Scriptures, we understand that the purpose of Christ's death on the cross was to redeem humanity from the bondage of sin, establish His love on us and grant us access to eternal life.
At Easter, our common testimonies are tales of the triumph of life over death, songs of victory over the devil and celebrations of love, mercy and grace.

Dear @DrDeleSobowale
As you expected, my attention was drawn to your apology as expressed in your Sunday @vanguardngrnews column of March 22, 2020. You specifically regretted an article you wrote in 2014 in which you called me all manner of names.
The truth Dele is that I never took such criticism from you or any other of my critics personally .
I may have felt bad as a human being, but I assumed that you were driven more by a patriotic feeling to see our nation make progress, than any personal hatred for me.
Although I believed that many of our critics at that time misjudged our plans and programmes for the country, I was fully convinced that our democracy would be better served if we allowed all Nigerians to freely hold us to account, without let or hindrance.
