Two women were sexually harassed in Rome on Christmas eve, "within 10mins of each other". One dragged by her hair - almost raped. The papers call him a 'maniac', implying it is a freak episode... implying Italy doesn't have a systemic problem with violence against women.
This year, on average, one woman was killed every three days in #Italy.
More than one third of women in Italy have said they do not feel safe when they leave their house alone at night, according to 2018 a poll from Istat.
Since the enactment of lockdown measures, domestic violence has almost doubled in some regions of Italy, erasing much of the progress made in the past years.
This holiday season, consider donating or helping out in any way at a women's shelter.

In Italy, @direlaviolenza do amazing work for survivors of violence against women.
