This virus is the greatest threat to public health since the Spanish Flu; and it will continue to be a threat until the virus is eradicated. I mean completely eradicated, gone, disappeared, extinguished. It cannot be treated as a serious flu. It is far more serious.
It is a fucking killer and it is only a question of time before it becomes more contagious and more lethal, so time is of the essence. The mRNA vaccines are more effective in the short run than traditional vaccines.
They may in the long run be less effective since they are, by comparison, more narrowly targeted on the spike protein. Something like fifty or so mutations could render them useless because the virus itself has changed the shape or the structure of the spike protein.
Governments around the world simply *must* make vaccination obligatory, with serious penalties imposed on those who fail to comply. If the vaccine remains optional, viral pockets will remain everywhere.
In any country that has failed to achieve the mythical state of herd immunity, the result will be a revival of catastrophe. The world economy will, already, be seriously compromised by this bug for years to come.
If the world isn't vaccinated--all of it--as quickly as possible, the consequences are too horrific to imagine. So no, I am not joking when I say that the anti-vaxxers are a threat to all human life, and the penalties must be *severe.*
