A New Year’s Day plea on behalf of all the UKs Therapists who want to help rebuild our nation from this tragic pandemic
We need investment across the pathway - we haven’t seen a penny
#LongCOVID clinics are a start but no where near enough 1/6
We have the skills and ability to care for people with complex rehabilitation needs
We work in multi-disciplinary teams, autonomously and in professional groups from intensive care to community
There isn’t a space in health and social care that you won’t find us 2/6
Yet still we suffer from lack of any serious investment. Often being the after thought to business cases, and being expected to do more with less
We have yet to see serious commitment to rehabilitation pathways & if it can’t come now, during a global pandemic, when will it? 3/6
Our Doctors, Nurses, Patients & Families need us more than ever but even with the excessive free hours we are working, we leave work feeling we have never done enough.
We can’t meet the needs of our patients and it absolutely breaks our hearts 4/6
We don’t expect much, but what we need without question is significant investment into our services
It takes years to develop or skills, we are committed & driven but we cannot continue like this 5/6
From all of the allied health professionals and those that work alongside us who feel our pain, please make Rehabilitation a priority
