Watching one of the greatest sci fi flicks ever in 4k. Let's go. 
There are so many creative choices in this movie that would never have been made today, which is one of the reasons I love it so much. It has true character.

Every modern movie would have chosen this moment to show you the New York of the future. Instead this movie cuts back to Ian Holm and only shows the city for the first time through Leeloo's eyes later, since she is the stand in for the audience in that moment. Great choice.
The music for the police chase sequence is a track combining Arabic makkam singing over salsa piano and brass and a Balkans-style accordion. Again something you'd never see in a blockbuster now.

Closing thoughts: The reason this movie is so good is because it has so much personality. It balances campy with earnest in a really charming way and its imagination and visuals evoke the sci-fi classics of the 70s and 80s. Can't get enough of it.
