for an episode with captain jack and daleks the dr who special was kind of a downer. overall the show was ok. im not wild about the doc being down on herself (this is mostly why i didnt like the capaldi run).
i only know dr who from the current run but i think its at its best when theyre like "whee! aliens! time travel! wtf! weird stuff! im clever!" and not so much "what does it all mean?" kinda stuff. which is why my favorite dr is tennant.
my favorite companions are martha jones and graham, followed by amy, rory, and clara. im kina meh on rose tyler and i couldn't stand donna noble.
the best doctor who trope is how almost all the villains are slow-moving aliens. i hope nobody ever tries to update that facet of the show to be "realistic." gimme some slow-roll daleks or cybermen any day.
