X : Me vs We, China, Doctrine and Serverless is all we can expect to hear from you in 2021?
Me : Yep.
X : Mapping?
Me : Part of doctrine - "understand what is being considered"
X : Doesn't this get boring?
Me : You think? A necessary evil it seems.

X : Business Strategy?
Me : For 99.9999% of companies out there, forget ... business strategy, culture, organisational design ... just concentrate on having a purpose and a primitive understanding of your landscape through the most basic of doctrine (focus on user needs etc)

X : Any new year resolutions?
Me : Hmmm ... try not hiring strategy / management consultants for a year and instead listen to your own staff?
X : No, I mean personal?
Me : Oh ... to build up my vegetable garden.

X : Thoughts on brexit?
Me : Sky hasn't fallen.
X : It's a good thing?
Me : Still looking for the sunny uplands.
X : It's a bad thing?
Me : It's not what will make or break society. We have bigger fish to fry ... the whole Me vs We discussion.

X: Thoughts on possible instability of the US?
Me : The problems within the US started long before Trump.
X : And?
Me : A lot will depend upon the first hundred days of Biden. Ask me then.

X : China?
Me : 100th anniversary of the CCP on July 23rd.
X : And?
Me : Expect Moon landings, Mars satellites and for China to start a long program to tackle the West's Achilles heel. The thing that will bring our economic systems crashing down.
X : ?
Me : Inequality.

X : Explain.
Me : Do you like Star Trek?
X : It's ok.
Me : Well China aims to be the United Federation of Planets whilst the West is busy creating the Cloud Minders and the city of Stratos.

... it's why there is a need for the whole We vs Me discussion.

X : Thoughts on Biden compared to Trump?
Me : Eh? Ask me in a hundred days. It took me 90 days to say Trump would be mostly harmless.
X : Mostly harmless?
Me : Compared to the epic predictions of doom ... yes. His impact could be mitigated quickly enough by Biden.

X : But Trump caused harm.
Me : Some, of course. But, as far as I am concerned, he would have caused far more harm if he had won a second term -

X : So Biden can change the US fortunes with China?
Me : No. But Biden is more adaptable and you now have a convenient person to blame (i.e. Trump) for what started long before Trump was in power. Never understimate the benefit of a psychological cushion to a change in power.

X : What about the pandemic?
Me : I'm in the UK, our response along with many countries which lack that Confucian focus on the "We" and instead have focused on the "Me" has been pretty awful. That's a widespread problem way beyond Trump and into the whole libertarian ideology.

Me : It doesn't matter, we dodged that bullet and dwelling on hypotheticals is a pointless exercise.

Me : Well, let us hope the democrats have control of the senate.
