Updated SARS-CoV-2 new variant report for 2020-01-04 available at cov-lineages.org/global_report.….
@arambaut @viralverity @MOUGK
We report that pangolin assigned 5,246 B.1.1.7 sequences from 26 countries. In addition to countries with B.1.1.7 sequences on GISAID previously, Jamaica (4) and Pakistan (2) are now also represented. @viralverity @arambaut
We report 353 B.1.351 sequences from 4 countries (no increase relative to yesterday's report).
We include updated weekly rolling-average frequency plots for both B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 for countries with a minimum of 10 new variant sequences over a minimum of 10 days. @viralverity
For lineage B.1.1.7 we have updated sequence counts and reports over volume of flight passengers leaving London in October. @MOUGK @EvolveDotZoo
We've also updated reports of B.1.1.7 bringing the total number of countries reporting to 39, with 26 of those represented on GISAID
Updated reports of lineage B.1.351 brings the total number of countries reporting to 9, 4 of which are represented by sequence data on GISAID. @MOUGK
We are actively maintaining the reports of both B.1.1.7 and B.1.351. If any reports we have missed come to light, feel free to alert us over Twitter or by a PR on GitHub here: github.com/cov-lineages/l… @arambaut @EvolveDotZoo @MOUGK @viralverity

Latest SARS-CoV-2 new variant report now available for 2021-01-02. As of this evening, there are 4,697 B.1.1.7 sequences from 23 countries and 353 B.1.351 sequences from 4 countries across the world. @arambaut @viralverity
Todays report — and pangolin v2.1.6 — comes with an updated set of lineage defining SNPs to assign B.1.351, to make use of the SNPs described in this preprint: medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
We now assign B.1.351 to sequences with 5 or more of the defining SNPs. @arambaut @Tuliodna
In addition to countries previously represented on GISAID, New Zealand has uploaded 6 B.1.1.7 genomes.

Latest new variant report for 2020-12-31 now online.
pangolin assigned 4,632 B.1.1.7 sequences from 21 countries across the world. In addition to countries previously reported, there are now B.1.1.7 sequences from USA (2), Switzerland (1) and Germany (1).
@arambaut @viralverity
New sequences reported from the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands and India, in addition to the new sequences from the USA, Switzerland and Germany.
The frequency plot shows the proportion of sequences from each country that are lineage B.1.1.7. For countries with low numbers of sequences reported, the frequency is likely not representative of the SARS-CoV-2 circulating in the community.

Latest SARS-CoV-2 new variant report now available at cov-lineages.org/global_report.…. Data pulled from GISAID on 2020-12-29 11:23 GMT and pangolin run on the entire dataset. There are now 4,323 B.1.1.7 genomes on GISAID, from 16 countries across the world. @arambaut @viralverity ImageImage
Although most of these sequences are from the UK, it's important to bear in mind the differences in sequencing efforts/ data sharing across the world, which will bias the data we see. Image
We have updated sequence counts overlayed on aggregate data of passengers leaving London in October, capturing true movement of people.
