VIDEO: Activists organized by @SmashTheFashNVA held a protest this evening outside the Alexandria, VA Holiday Inn hotel demanding they not provide rooms for attendees of Wednesday's "Stop the Steal" rally in DC.

Activist tells me hotel has discount code for rally participants.
"They're hosting the Proud Boys, so they're renting rooms to fascists, and we don't like that" said @JonathanKrallVA.

"We think that these businesses should identify these groups and refuse to rent rooms to them because fascism should be taken seriously."
"The day that Biden won, we had hundreds of thousands of people at Black Lives Matter Plaza," said an activist who asked to be ID'ed as "Bug."

"We need those numbers again. We need those people to be out now, fighting against fascism."
The group had officially cancelled this event an hour ahead of the rally time due to "credible threats from fascists" they say they recieved.

In spite of that, several still showed up.

The event was a physical manifestation (the only I'm aware of) of a broader campaign to get hotels to shut down on Jan 5 & 6 or simply not accommodate Trump supporters.

Two hotels have actually shut down for those dates, including Hotel Harrington.

Here's my full video of the protest outside Alexandria, VA Holiday Inn today demanding they shut down for the 5th and 6th or refuse to accommodate Trump supporters in town for the protest.

As always, all footage available to license.

I'm home, and will post my footage of the #CapitolHill riot chronologically as I go through it.

These are some of the scenes I first saw arriving at the Capitol, just as they breached the perimeter.

Fighting largely focused on the first set of steps.
One person fell off the steps (which I didn't manage to capture on video).

Trump supporters accused officers of pushing him off. He was taken away in a stretcher. His condition is unclear to me.
It was shortly after that that Trump supporters began pushing harder, to the point that police retreated up the steps.

In my opinion, this was basically the critical moment that caused everything else tonight to happen.

Police threw some tear gas back as they retreated.

BREAKING video: Proud Boys chairman Enrique Tarrio was released from jail without bond.

Full 4K footage on the way.
4K video: Proud Boys chairman Enrique Tarrio answers some questions after being released from jail.

He is banned from Washington DC other than for his legal matters before the court.

He says he was arrested at gunpoint last night.

"We're gonna keep fighting," he says.
Enrique Tarrio was picked up by a friend and said his first priority is to get a "hamburger" but that he doesn't know how he'll be getting the city tonight.

Earlier today, pro-@wikileaks activists who had been protesting against the prosecution of #JulianAssange held a party outside the Department of Justice including cake and balloons to celebrate a British court's decision not to extradite.

The United States is expected to appeal.
During the party, a DOJ cop came over to ask about the demonstration, but there were no issues and the group had a permit.

The organizers attempted to get the cops to eat some of the cake, but they didn't bite (literally.)
Here is my video from the event. As always, all footage available to license.

I did film some speeches afterwards, which I didn't stream or post. Anyone looking for footage of those feel free to PM.

This could be a stunt on the Proud Boys’ end, but it appears possible that PB chairman Enrique Tarrio was just arrested.
Matt Couch, a relatively prominent right-wing figure (although not a member of the Proud Boys), claims that Enrique Tarrio was arrests on arrival in DC. Image
This is the incident he was reportedly arrested for (but I’d wait for confirmation to be sure of this.)

Tarrio was present when it happened (drinking a cup of coffee) but didn’t personally burn it.

However, he leads the PB’s and took responsibility in a statement on Parler.

Pro-@wikileaks activists gathered this afternoon in front of the British Embassy in Washington DC to protest extradition hearings being held in the case of #JulianAssange.

"Free, free, Julian Assange!" they chanted. "There's only one decision, no extradition!"
"What do we want? Free Assange! When do we want it? Now!"

@LeeCamp led chants outside the British embassy before telling the crowd Julian Assange "set an amazing example of courage" and is dangerous to those in power.
A lot of left activists spent their time criticizing the Democrats on the issue of Julian Assange, especially those framed as progressive.

@AOC was criticized for saying she'd have to "think" about whether or not Assange should be freed.

"We need him free now more than ever."
