I expect McConnell, being the consummate power pragmaticist, will start making conciliatory overtures to Biden.
No more "you will not pass anyone/anything I do not approve of" nonsense... He will pragmatically appear to be working with, while he lays his traps.
I have a concern that Schumer is not up to the task. He has been outmaneuvered by McConnell for years, mostly sputtering outrages wo much effect.
If he is driven by ego, especially if empowered by personal revenge, as his "mission", however deep inset, it will be disastrous.
We are about to see some amazing plays made on the public stage. Many, probably most of them, will not be obvious what is happening. But what we get to see will be the proverbial iceberg...only the end point of whatever is in play.
We need our public servants, as well as our best commentators, like @SteveSchmidtSES and so many others, from all points on the political spectrum, to keep us informed, not of the kabuki we see, but the plotlines we do not.
The nation is imperiled. It is my opinion that this election is a milestone, a major and necessary battle won. But by no means is this battle, this #TrumpsWarOnAmerica, done.

In metaphorical terms this is the Battle of Midway. It changes everything, especially the structure of
the battle lines. But it is only a shift. As then, it took years more to work out the win.
It has been well said that defeating Trump was necessary. And that it the simple task compared to defeating Trump-ism.
McConnell was not a Trumpie. He used Trump for his power purposes. As we have seen he will abandon Trump, deftly, he wants to retain the power of Trumpism after all, and will reorganize his battle plans to take account for the new realities.
That is the difference between a despotic leader, enthralled with himself, and the forces that understand how to use him, and the movement he is the figurehead of.

Watch closely.
We are about to watch a new telling of the Scorpion Story.

@SamHarrisOrg An entry into the debate of 'free will' and how people develop.
I wonder sometimes if what you see as unconditional outcomes is due in some large part to the underlying conditioning that conscribes one's self.

This image struck me along those lines. Image
I gather you see this as just another effect in the universal cosmic Cause... An inevitable happening that must be seen as an effect, rather than a 'cause' of its own?
Is every analysis of the context and conditioning of people subject to the trump card of 'yep, that is how it must be given the massive totality of all the forces leading to this moment'.

@TimothyDSnyder Needs to be on every major media explaining what has happened, how it has been being set up for years, the patterns of Authoritarian take over..
And the fact that we are not yet done with this.
It is still hot. Trump remains a force - another pattern.

Must learn.
Looking back, not even 100 years ago, to the last major authoritarian assault. There are patterns. We are in the middle of our version, so we do not have a clear idea if we are at the beginning, the Putsch, or the end, the Bunker.
There are pieces of both.
It depends, largely
on whether we are capable of hearing the clear statements and assessments of our historians like Snyder and Heather Cox. And the journalists, writers, like @anneapplebaum who see things from a larger contextual perspective.

Disgusting beyond words.

If it was not clear before it is transparent now: Trump & many of his followers are about this flag and all it stands for.

Others have noted that this flag was unable to overturn the Union & never made it into the Capitol in the darkest of days.

This.. Image
This is how dark Trump has always been.
Charlottesville was one notable prior example.

This has to be met.

@tommy_pane I know there are serious issues, corruption, systemic, political, social... all of it. If you read my posts you would know that. I am no Pollyanna thinking everything is just fine, except those damn Trumpies.
I am aware of the dangers & damages of unrestrained capitalism....
@tommy_pane 2/ again, if you read my other posts, you would know that. Especially global capitalism. Especially re the planet, our society, social good, etc.

But Trump is so much not the answer. He is a corruption beyond what he, or any of his supports, like you, think he would solve.
@tommy_pane 3/ That you cannot see that... that you think some sort of anarchy, or at least sedition like was on display yesterday is ok... No.
Whatever the problems of America are, and they are plenty... they are not solved by this madman, sotted with his power lusting, childs level ego.

@tommy_pane @Delavegalaw Is is my deep hope, for your sake, you are simply being churlish, or maybe your attempt at being funny, or maybe just sore because what you are devoted to is crumbling.
But I suspect you are none of these.
Which is exceedingly sad.

So now you will be part of those who nurse
@tommy_pane @Delavegalaw 2/ their resentments, muttering, like your iconic leader, "I won... They stole it from me... I won... there is no way I lost..."
In an endless loop.
And while you probably won't be violent you will be in support of those who are, & think it just.

That is your prerogative.
Enjoy
@tommy_pane @Delavegalaw 3/ You and those that call themselves Trump devotees, the ones who finally metastasized into yesterday's attack, & those not there, but who would have been, perhaps wanted to be, but see no problem with what happened..In fact, as you imply, think it exactly what is needed in the

It is a common place to recognize how the world seems to spin faster. In every domain things that once took years, takes months, or days to complete a cycle.
And now in politics.

Trump has run the gamut from gathering power, seemingly invincible to bunker phase in record time.
Any number of examples.
Here are a few.
