BREAKING: In new video, Trump lies repeatedly about his sedition. He says the Capitol attack outraged him—reports say he was "enthusiastic." He says he called out the Guard immediately—reports say he rebuffed requests "repeatedly."

This is a raft of lies.
1/ Trump *repeatedly* tweeted after the attack began—and never *once* said rioters should leave the Capitol. He now claims he acted quickly to see to it his insurrectionists were "expelled." This bald-faced lie is contradicted not just by media reports but his public statements.
2/ He calls the insurrectionists "demonstrators" and implies only *some* of the rioters "broke the law"—when in fact *all* did, as all the insurrectionists were knowingly trespassing on federal property under circumstances in which the fact of a trespass was unmistakable to them.
3/ He says he pursued only "legal" avenues to contest the vote. Not true—he incited an armed mob to march on Congress to *interrupt* their legal duties. He described to the mob them making their voices directly head by members of Congress, when the Capitol was off-limits to them.
4/ Trump says he spent the last few weeks "defending" democracy. Not true. All America heard his hour-plus call with Georgia's Secretary of State—in which he threatened Raffensperger to try to get him to "find" enough votes for the Georgia tally to be "recalculated" in his favor.
5/ Trump said he was trying to ensure "faith and confidence in all future elections." Not true. His rhetoric has been, *at every turn*, to tell his voters that the Democratic Party and any Republicans who oppose him have ensured all future elections will be "rigged" and "stolen."
6/ Trump recorded this deceitful video for *one* reason: to avoid impeachment by the House and removal by the Senate, as a Senate vote post-trial could preclude him from ever holding public office again, and he wants to keep open the option of running for president again in 2024.
7/ He calls his supporters "wonderful" less than a day after thousands of them, including many who were armed, *attacked the U.S. Capitol*—murdering a police officer, looting government offices, destroying property, issuing threats, carrying Confederate flags, demanding a *coup*.
8/ The end of the video is chilling, as Trump promises his fans that "our incredible journey is only just beginning"—words that now sound like more of a threat than a reassurance. He's promising to continue his "MAGA" movement as it was before. And "before" led to a coup attempt.
9/ This video is a craven attempt to save a presidency that has justly collapsed. His cabinet and deputies are resigning; he's not on speaking terms with his VP; there's a bipartisan push for his impeachment and removal; and all America knows him to be a clear and present danger.
10/ Don't forget that in his last statement before this—when he was less worried about impeachment—he wrote, "I totally disagree with the outcome of the election and the facts bear me out," adding that yesterday was "only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!"

(NEW) Gavin McInnes—founder of the Proud Boys—has taken to Parler to say I and CNN are wrong about Proud Boys wearing orange hats at Trump's insurrection. He's threatening a lawsuit.

To be clear, I was working from CNN's report only. I'll now wait to see what new info comes out.
(PS) *Some* paramilitary group wore orange knit caps on Wednesday. And *some* paramilitary group wearing such caps was the first to attack the barricades. Buzzfeed News says the Proud Boys had promised to "breach the Capitol." I guess we'll see if CNN has its information correct. Image
(WSJ1) "The milling crowd of Trump supporters had taken his invitation to march on the Capitol, but upon arriving at the steel fencing at the edge of the building’s western lawn, they seemed unsure of what to do next. Then, at 12:48PM, a clutch of men..." google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.…

BREAKING: Major media previously reported that Trump's insurrection was initiated by a gang of men in "blaze orange hats." CNN now confirms that these were the *Proud Boys*—the very white supremacist group Trump told to "stand by" at a presidential debate. cnn.com/2021/01/09/us/…
(PS) Per major media, the first seditionists to break down barricades and charge the Capitol were wearing "blaze orange hats," which again has now been confirmed to be the means by which the Proud Boys recognized one another during the insurrection. This is a stunning revelation.
(PS2) I can't tell you how many people are writing to remind me that the Proud Boys' leader was *at the White House* on the *very day* Trump excitedly tweeted about the January 6 rally. If this timeline is correct, we now have a *terrifying* synchronicity. google.com/amp/s/amp.usat…

(THREAD) Media has yet to do a deep dive on precisely what Trump *said* in his January 6 speech in DC—a speech now called an "incitement to insurrection," and the basis for an article of impeachment coming Monday. This thread unpacks the speech. I hope you'll read on and RETWEET. Image
1/ First, many don't realize that while the name of the *rally* was "Stop the Steal," Trump spoke flanked by banners that read "Save America March"—Save America being the PAC Trump has used since the election to scam voters out of more than $300 million for "election defense."
2/ It appears, therefore, that the link between Trump, his opposition to Biden's January 6 certification in Congress, and the insurrectionist march on the Capitol is one that comes, incredibly, with a paper trail—as it appears Trump *paid for* the seditious "Save America March."

The Alabama duo—Mo Brooks and Tommy Tuberville—is one I suspect the FBI will want to investigate. At all stages of the insurrection it seems Trump was working with two Alabama Republicans to ensure the insurrection and the opposition to Biden's certification worked hand-in-glove.
(PS) Mo Brooks was the first Republican to say he'd challenge Biden's certification; was at Trump's rally talking about "kicking ass"; was allegedly conspiring with Akbar. His Alabama GOP delegation peer, Tuberville, was Trump's Senate man, contacted by Giuliani mid-insurrection.
(PS2) A lot of people will be asking about conversations that may have occurred between/amongst Trump, Giuliani, Brooks, Biggs, Gosar, Tuberville, and Akbar as to how the insurrection would be timed and how it would dovetail with Brooks'/Tuberville's actions inside the Capitol.

In January 2020, 45 GOP senators had the view that the Senate can vote on articles as soon as they're received. Pelosi holds the articles until January 20; the Senate votes—with an aim of precluding Trump from holding office again—that evening. All over by Biden's first full day.
PS/ That a Senate impeachment trial determines removal *and* disqualification from future office means it *can* be conducted after the officeholder is no longer in office. In this case, a vote on conviction and disqualification—win or lose—would only follow Trump's term by hours.
PS2/ The idea of a vote without trial is troubling. But of course impeachment is a political process, not a legal one, as we've been told interminably, and what I'm suggesting would only occur if the president's party *refused* to conduct a timely trial following an insurrection.

(FULL INSURRECTION VIDEO) I post this to counteract the lies being spread by Trump supporters about what happened during the coup attempt on Wednesday. Be advised that this video gets scary and violent.

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED.
PS/ Note the many references in the video to "burning this down" and "revolution"; the willful, wanton destruction of property; the repeated assaults on law enforcement; the many insurrectionists in tactical gear; the legitimate fear on the faces of officers vastly outnumbered...
PS2/ ...the law enforcement officers told, sometimes civilly and sometimes not—sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly—that they will be physically harmed by the mob if they don't stand down; the angry refusal of every lawful order given by law enforcement inside the building...
