If the House impeached him, there really isn't a time limit, so it would be possible for the Senate trial to take a while. But any impeachment proceedings would be moot on Jan 20 11:59.
So to me, the impeachment feels like Damocles sword, ready to strike if Trump gets out of line. It will be interesting to see what momentum it gains in the Senate
The only time you will ever see me use that word is in regards to that man.
I've said this before, but the reason we don't see much right wing mob violence (in America) as much is because the police violence serves as a proxy for them.
They see the police as taking care of the issue for them

No. The Constitution says Pence opens all certified votes and then announces them, and asks for objections.
That's it.
The ECA only adds two things: Pence asks for objections, and maintains orders.
