The government makes for a terrible parent, nanny, moral arbiter and an even worse god. It does not love you. It does not know your or your kids’ names. It does not care about you. It cannot determine morality or truth. The best it can do is to protect your right to be left alone
This is why the pursuit of smaller government & conservation of the constitution is inextricably intertwined with the preservation of the family and faith. If people don’t find belonging, identity & care from these places, they will look to the state.
Any “conservative” movement that neglects the importance of the family and a view of God as our supreme moral Lawgiver will never, ever work. There must be an institution stronger than, and a transcendent authority higher than, the government.
Otherwise we have no basis on which to make our case for natural rights, which is the entire premise of America’s foundation. This is part the “social conservatism” that many Republicans (esp in DC) are scared to loudly defend.
We can’t just be a movement against leftism. We have to be for something, and not just corporate tax breaks. The left certainly isn’t scared to make their social, cultural and moral case. We shouldn’t be either.

Christian conservatives have ceded ground in every possible arena for at least 50 years. At some point we decided science, medicine, entertainment and public & higher education were all secular endeavors whose degeneracy was inevitable.
So we resigned ourselves to yelling about the problems instead of doing anything about them. We said “Jesus said things would get worse...” and ignored our God-given capacity & responsibility to make them any better.
This is completely out of step with both historical Catholicism & Protestantism. Christians founded the universities that now scoff at the idea of a Creator. Christians built the hospitals now providing abortions & gender reassignment surgery for teens.
Warnock led a church whose church camp abused children by torturing them, throwing urine on them, forcing them to sleep outside. He was arrested for obstructing the investigation into the abuse. His ex wife says he’s a sociopathic abuser. Says he ran over her foot w/ his car.
He is adamantly pro-abortion, having received $200K from PP. He described the legacy of murderous dictator Fidel Castro as “complicated” & not all bad. He compared cops to thugs. He defended Wright’s “GD America” sermon. He’s awful, and a radical.
You cannot claim to have voted against Trump in the name of “decency” and vote for someone with these kinds of allegations against him.
Watching leftist Twitter gloat over a Republican’s COVID death isn’t surprising anymore, but it never gets less sickening.
Their assertions: “he never wore a mask!” There are 0–zero—studies showing the mask stops you from getting sick. It may stop you from spreading to others if you are sick. It will not—I repeat will NOT—keep a person from getting COVID themselves.
“Look at this video where he said we should be cautious but open the economy! Terrible!” So...what? Good leadership is locking people in their homes & shutting down their businesses? Not caring about people who die by suicide, who suffer loneliness, depression, poverty?
As always, leftism gets human nature wrong. The reason many leftists defend “sex work” is because leftism is based on the worldview of materialism, which asserts that human beings are just clumps of matter. Thus, sex isn’t special. Thus, making money doing it is fine.
But the fact that the industries are rife with exploitation, abuse, addiction, depression & suicide belies leftist’s claims that “sex work” is just as moral as accounting. Sex is different, because humans aren’t clumps of matter. We’re whole people with hearts and souls.
Thus we were made for commitment, connection and relationship. We weren’t made to be objectified, whether we consent to it or not. It will always depress us & leave us unfulfilled, because we were made for more.
One more thought about CRT & Christianity, as well as “Christian Nationalism.” The theology inspired by CRT is Black Liberation Theology. See last thread for explanation. My assertion is that Black Liberation Theology & Christian Nationalism are similar forms of idolatry.
BLT centers black liberation in its understanding of Christianity and Scripture. CN centers American liberation. BLT sees the eternal fight as between non-white folks and white oppressors. CN sees the eternal fight as between patriots & globalists.
BLT sees black people’s journey as analogous to Israel’s history. CN sees America’s journey that way. They both believe “their” people as the *real* chosen people. (I explained what CN actually is in a thread yesterday.)
