Watching leftist Twitter gloat over a Republican’s COVID death isn’t surprising anymore, but it never gets less sickening.
Their assertions: “he never wore a mask!” There are 0–zero—studies showing the mask stops you from getting sick. It may stop you from spreading to others if you are sick. It will not—I repeat will NOT—keep a person from getting COVID themselves.
“Look at this video where he said we should be cautious but open the economy! Terrible!” So...what? Good leadership is locking people in their homes & shutting down their businesses? Not caring about people who die by suicide, who suffer loneliness, depression, poverty?
“Typical Republican science denier!” How’s the “science” going in CA, NY, NJ, etc. versus...say... FL? Are you telling me it’s conservative science deniers driving the spread in these blue states?
People have died who have done everything “right.” People who haven’t changed a thing about their lives haven’t gotten it. Stop gloating. It’s not cute, and you never know when it will be your time. Let’s all be humble and kind.
I honestly and truly do not find it difficult to show sympathy towards people with whom I disagree when they’re hurting. What’s difficult is understanding the people who *can’t* do this. Leftist Twitter is a cruel, cold, stupid place.
And, lastly, I want to repeat for the 100000th time: it is possible to take precautions, to realize the virus is real and has killed people, and to care about the livelihoods, mental health and spiritual needs of our communities. The full lockdown or nothing folks are not sane.

As always, leftism gets human nature wrong. The reason many leftists defend “sex work” is because leftism is based on the worldview of materialism, which asserts that human beings are just clumps of matter. Thus, sex isn’t special. Thus, making money doing it is fine.
But the fact that the industries are rife with exploitation, abuse, addiction, depression & suicide belies leftist’s claims that “sex work” is just as moral as accounting. Sex is different, because humans aren’t clumps of matter. We’re whole people with hearts and souls.
Thus we were made for commitment, connection and relationship. We weren’t made to be objectified, whether we consent to it or not. It will always depress us & leave us unfulfilled, because we were made for more.
One more thought about CRT & Christianity, as well as “Christian Nationalism.” The theology inspired by CRT is Black Liberation Theology. See last thread for explanation. My assertion is that Black Liberation Theology & Christian Nationalism are similar forms of idolatry.
BLT centers black liberation in its understanding of Christianity and Scripture. CN centers American liberation. BLT sees the eternal fight as between non-white folks and white oppressors. CN sees the eternal fight as between patriots & globalists.
BLT sees black people’s journey as analogous to Israel’s history. CN sees America’s journey that way. They both believe “their” people as the *real* chosen people. (I explained what CN actually is in a thread yesterday.)
Some of the same people who complain that critics of Critical Race Theory don’t define our terms (we do) use the phrase “Christian nationalism” without the slightest clue about what they’re saying. Honestly, I think I have a better grasp on what it is than most people who use it.
And it’s crazy how many REFUSE to define it! It’s the same Kafka trap we see from White Fragility crowd: if you have to ask, or if you defend yourself, you’re guilty. But here’s what I’ve gathered CN *actually* means vs how people erroneously mean it:
The belief that America is God’s chosen nation, that we are who is prophesied about in the OT, not Israel or the church. That our righteousness is tied to patriotism, &, as of this era, patriotism is tied to Trump support. Therefore part of being a christian is supporting Trump.
The policy of shutting down schools & businesses is rooted in a secular, materialist worldview that views humans as merely bodies. Thus it prioritizes “stopping” a physical illness at the expense of a person’s emotional and spiritual well-being.
It’s a good lesson in how leftism views people—with a lopsided emphasis on nurture over nature. Leftism is based on this erroneous materialist view of humans as malleable objects that can adapt to the wishes of the political & cultural powers that be.
In the context of COVID restrictions, the idea from the left is that people will be fine, especially if we give them $ to live. But people need more than $. People need interaction, community, spiritual nourishment, purpose found through productivity.
Ironically, many of the people calling this tweet privileged are the same ones who fight against school choice & support teachers unions, both of which actively work against underprivileged students...
My stance is: every parent, regardless of socioeconomic status, should have options in their child’s education. School choice programs that allow $ to follow the child rather than funding institutions create competition between schools that incentivizes better spending & teaching
In some cases, the local public school may very well be the best option for their child. But if not, they should have the freedom & funds to go elsewhere. Teachers unions fight against this, bc, like most left wing institutions, they don’t like competition or accountability.
