Though I’ve yet to see evidence that supports the claim, it’s certainly plausible that the branding of “defund the police” had a negative effect in some more conservative environments, but we should also be very clear that branding and policy are different.
I would love to see polling on the constituent elements of Defund the Police separate from its branding as such.
Like, is there anyone who’s actually against reducing police capacity for violence in favor or providing more effective constituent services in such a way that reduces crime and improves quality of life?
