Leugnung bzw. auch Glorifizierung des Faschismus ist in Japan Staatsideologie.

"Korea war nie 1 Kolonie Japans. Zwangsarbeit, Deportationen, Vergewaltigungen, Entführungen und Folter gab es nicht".
So Ex-Außenminister und derzeitiger LDP-Abgeordneter Masahisa Sato am 12.1.2020.
Man stelle sich vor, ein/e hochrangige/r deutsche PolitikerIn würde einfach so sagen: "Deutschland hat Polen nie überfallen. Es gab keine Zwangsarbeiter. Es gab keine Konzentrationslager und keine Gaskammern. Alles Lüge".
Natürlich hat Masahisa Sato auch beste Verbindungen in die extreme Rechte. So versuchte er 2011 mit Nobuyuki Suzuki (Bild), Chef der offen faschistischen "National Party of Japan", auf die koreanische Insel Jukdo zu reisen, Propaganda für JP Gebietsansprüche.

Jepp, versuchte.
Masahisa Sato wurde die Einreise nach Korea seitens des koreanischen Staates verweigert.

I want to tell you a story about a female town council member who was raped by the town's mayor. His victim lost her job and was humiliated again.

The town of Kusatsu is a small one. The population is just above 6000 people. Pretty much the only thing it's known for are it's hot springs, called "onsen" in Japanese.
But Kusatsu is also a place where the other, very dark reality of this "Japan" is visible. In 2015, the female town council member Shoko Arai was raped. The rapist was Nobutada Kuroiwa (see photo). He raped Shoko Arai in his office.

Was in Europa besetzte Häuser sind, nämlich Zentren eines alternativen, linken gesellschaftlichen Lebensentwurfs sowie linker Politik, das waren in Japan lange Zeit selbstverwaltete StudentInnenheime. Ein Thread dazu, wie immer mit vielen Bildern. Es wird spannend :)
In den 50ern erstritten sich linke StudentInnenorganisationen (AstA, öH-Style) Autonomie über die Studiheime. Sogar die Miete wurde selbst bestimmt und war dementsprechend niedrig. In den wenigen noch bestehenden Heimen liegt sie heute oft nur bei 20-30 Euro pro Monat.
Bis in die 80er gab es über 100 selbstverwaltete Studiheime. Nicht alle politisch, aber viele. Diese wurden zu den Zentren der militanten Linken Studibewegung der 60er und 70er. Neben den Heimen gab wurden ganze Campus-Trakte besetzt und wurden eine No-Go Area für die Polizei.

Was im Westen die Hasskappe ist, ist in Japan der Helm. DAS Symbol der radikalen, militanten Linken, insbesondere in den 60ern. Das japanische Wort dafür ist "Geba-heru", ein Lehnwort aus dem Deutschen(!) und bedeutet "Gewalthelm". Ein kleiner Thread bzw. Galerie. Viel Spaß.
Markenzeichen des "Geba-heru": Jede Gruppe hat(te) ihren eigenen Helm, mit der Aufschrift der Gruppe und einheitlicher Farbe. Auf aufgetreten wird gemeinsam, wie auf den Bildern ersichtlich.

Rant (thread) about how researching about social movements in Japan can be a major pain in the ass due to the "outer/inner" (uchi/soto)-dynamics that run the country. And why I, as a non-japanese often feel out due to being a "gaijin".
Since I came to Tokyo last year, one of the biggest struggles in my research about anti-fascist movements in JP was to get adequate informations. Articles and books, which go deeper than what's available in a mainstream bookshops.
I am especially interested in the ideological changes and developments of anti-fascist groups. From being fiercly anti-japanese until the 80s, to becoming more and more liberal and sometimes even openly rightwing since Fukushima.

Nun, gerade jetzt lädt die Kleinstpartei SÖZ etwa zu einer Diskussion "Atelier X" in der hippen favoritner Ankerbrotfabrik.

Der Chef der SÖZ ist Hakan Gördü. Zuvor war er der Sprecher der UETD, einer Art außenstelle von Erdogans Partei AKP. Das Geld für diese Tätigkeit erhielt Gördü direkt aus Ankara. Er organisierte nicht nur den letzten Erdogan-Wahlauftritt in Wien, sondern auch Pro-Erdogan Demos.
Er gibt zwar immer wieder vor, dass er "nichts" mit der AKP/Erdogan zu tun habe, aber die Beweislage spricht natürlich gegen ihn. Mitunter kann er auch wirklich sauer werden.

Hundreds of people protested in Tokyo today against racist police violenece. The reason was not only Minneapolis, but first of all the violent arrest and beating in broad daylight of a kurdish man living in Tokyo. A short thread. #0530渋谷署前抗議
The demo started at the famous shibuya Square, one of the most lively places of Tokyo. Autonomous antifascists, people from political parties, anarchists and people form different other political groups and backgrounds gathered.
At the Shibuya Police station it got really loud, the people chanted "Turn over the criminal policemen!". Unfoetunately, the police started to attack rhe demo, beat people and arrested one activist. #0530渋谷署前抗議
