As abolitionists, we are dedicated to the elimination of imprisonment for all people, not just those with “non-violent” charges, but also for those who have done serious harm or have been charged as having committed acts of serious harm.
To quote Mariam Kaba, "A world without harm isn’t possible and isn’t what an abolitionist vision purports to achieve. Rather, abolitionist politics and practice contend that disposing of people...
... by locking them away in jails and prisons, does nothing significant to prevent, reduce, or transform harm in the aggregate” (So You’re Thinking About Becoming an Abolitionist).
We know that the interconnected purpose of prisons, police, and surveillance is large scale, structural violence, working at most times to effectively maintain...
... “the authority of people who get their power through racial, economic, and other privileges” (Critical Resistance, What is the PIC?).
The goal of this project is to help publicize the voices of prisoners of the state. These are their thoughts, feelings, and calls for help.
While we intentionally do not compare non-violent and violent charges or engage in the logic of deserving and undeserving...
... we are dedicated to providing a platform for imprisoned people to express themselves, the struggles they undertake, and their analyses of the multiplicitous exploitations they endure, even when their words do not necessarily align with our values.

We started to make a big fuss about being held there so long. Instead of fixing that themselves, Coffee Creek didn’t want to deal with us anymore and sent us away."
