Lawyer Isabelle Kirshner: We represented Mr. Hadden in the state case, there were five or so victims. If he had the fee we would have sought, we would have represented him. Two lawyers, a paralegal and an associate. There could be motion practice.

Magistrate Judge Ona T. Wang: What might a partial appointment look like?
AUSA Jessica Lonergan: He have not seen the detailed financial information.
[Apparently, Hadden was allowed to speak with three Criminal Justice Act lawyers and choose - hmm...]

Kirshner says she has discussed this with David Patton of Federal Defenders (also with a role over the CJA panel).
Judge Wang: I have reviewed the financial information, which is not public. I am considering a lump sum payment to the clerk of the court.

Kirshner: Mr Hadden had the $130,000 in a bank account which got closed due to publicity in this case. So he transferred it to his wife. He collects $6400 a month in disability. His wife collects Social Security, too.

Judge Wang took a break and is back. She says, I am likely going to find Mr Hadden is partially eligible. He'd pay the clerk of court until it is depleted. I don't know if we need an appointment of counsel now, or just adjourn.

Judge Wang: Mr. Hadden should pay the clerk of the court, and I appoint Ms. Gallicchio.
