We started investing in #NFT's in 2018 with the strong belief that gaming will drive blockchain mass adoption create a new digital economy some of our thinking in tweet style below $REVV $SAND #animoca@animocabrands@TheSandboxGame share/comment if you like this format for more
Quick reminder of the "traditional" gaming industry with 2.6 (some say 2.7) billion gamers in the world today that last year spent over over 150 billion dollars
that is more than film and music combined
of that approx. $60 billion (or more) has been spent on virtual goods in 2019 (swords, skins, land, cars etc.) infact @latelier estimates that this is already a $100 billion industry (check out their awesome site about the virtual economy) gamers already already virtual value
but what is actually happening in the virtual goods space is mass-scale renting with no true ownership of anything they have bought. Asset provenance and ownership requires validation by a "higher power" i.e. the game studios etc.
traditional game studios have a classic innovators dilemma. With massive profits in a rental model they fully control why sell and give up control? This leads to an inevitable form of value betrayal see medium.com/hashed-officia…@hashed_official@TheSandboxGame
video gaming is a digital-first industry and is an ideal match for a digital-first approach to governance i.e #blockchain unlike most industries gamers need blockchain to realize the full potential of their time and the value they deliver (trade, ownership, cross-application)
interoperability of assets #NFTs to us is how free trade and capitalism have transformed the world providing more economic prosperity to all. This is critical for the creation of an inclusive and open digital asset world like open source has done for code. #gamesarefuedaltoday
less than 3% of the over $60 billion spent on digital goods is rental, what would that conversion look like if it was true ownership? We think a lot more! #animoca#nft@REVV_Token@F1DeltaTime@TheSandboxGame@quidd@GameeApp lots more to share later, thank you for reading

.@animocabrands has been strong believers in this "Content is the Platform" trend. Interoperability of digital items will allow for the creation of the true Nike or Adidas of the digital world and is the true revolution which is why maintaining open networks is so important!
games today is like the NBA, ESPN, Basketball and Nike all in one. Asset interoperability will create entirely new companies (and economies) and studios will integrate support for these assets because they want those customers own your car @F1DeltaTime use it anywhere.
virtual goods sole existence was to support the value of the game, which in turn meant it only benefitted the game studio. A new class of games are emerging that exist to support the asset itself (NFT) where every player becomes a stakeholder in the asset ecosystem itself.
But beyond all the #NFT hype, art and land ownership there is one narrative that we think is critically important and has long-term revolutionary potential and why we went all-in on projects like @TheSandboxmedium.com/@ysiu/the-cont…
