In the third phase trial, among the ones who received vaccine shots, all those whose PCR test results were negative were counted towards "effective" even though more than 3000 manifested Covid19 symptoms.

No follow up was carried

3/ out to see if the results would turn positive in the next few days.

Moreover, hundreds of people's statistics were discarded because of deviation from expectations.

So the shortcomings of the American vaccines are:

I/Brand new biotechnology, side effects are likely to

4/ be severe and unknown

II/ Must be conserved under -70ºC. Conservation conditions are too difficult even for developed countries which must dispose of special industrial fridges before receiving the vaccines.

III/ Effectiveness likely to be much

5/lower than 95% announced.

Chinese vaccines have avoided the three shortcomings above.

For the Chinese vaccine CoronaVac, for example, stricter criteria were applied in the treatment of statistics.

For the third phase clinical trial carried out in Brazil,

6/ the effectiveness announced is 50.4%. However all those who manifested Covid symptoms were not counted towards "effective" even though their PCR results may be negative.

Further, in Brazil, the trial was carried out with high risk high exposure recruits,

7/ie, essentially medical workers and the elderly.

The 50.4% figure is the probability of not contracting the virus. The effectiveness jumps to 100% against severe symptoms requiring hospitalization possibly leading to death. This means Chinese CoronaVac guarantees

8/that symptoms would be mild and a 100% recovery rate is to be expected in the case where one still contracts the virus.

The performance of Sinopharm vaccines is about the same. In the end, the Chinese vaccines may turn out to be the safest and most effective.

9/ The US government chose to promote the new biotechnology mRNA adopted by Pfizer and Moderna. The main advantage of a mRNA vaccine is that it uses chemical synthesis which renders the production cheaper, easier and faster as compared with the production process of classical

10/ vaccines based on virus inactivation. Latter requires mass cultivation of live viruses in a laboratory followed by inactivation. The process is long, complicated, costly & susceptible to risks of contamination.

The mRNA biotechnology has been known for more than 3 decades,

11/but has never been approved or used in the past because of its uncertainty. On the contrary, the classic vaccine technology based on virus inactivation has existed and been used for more than one hundred years.

In normal circumstances, clinical trials of a mRNA vaccine

12/ would take several years to accomplish. As time is of essence this time, everything has been accelerated and regulatory approvals have been granted by various western countries with the caveat that neither the big Pharma nor the governments would be held responsible

13/ if something goes seriously wrong.

Chinese scientists have also mastered the mRNA technology but discarded it finally due to the uncertainty of its safety.

It appears that many American medical workers don't trust the US vaccines... They are wary of the risks.

14/ They don't want to be the little white mice. Incentives even coercions have been deployed to make these people accept US vaccines to set a good example to the public.

The uncertainty of the mRNA vaccines renders the prospects of returning to normalcy in 2021 less certain.
