Folks—@Twitter has just shafted @JoeBiden’s @POTUS account.

📍When Trump had become president, his POTUS account inherited all followers from @BarackObama’s POTUS account.

➡️But when Biden became President, Twitter refused to transfer those POTUS followers to @POTUS.

Unfair.

2) This is real. Biden administration is not too happy.

Biden’s digital director called Twitter’s transition plan “profoundly insufficient” in a tweet last week.

3) “They’re bending themselves over backwards to break with the 2017 protocol they set on the transfer of accounts, and also breaking with every other social platform in providing the new administration a follower base,”

4) Now I see many say “we don’t want Trump followers”.... but there is value in being able to reach the other side. And again, many were once Obama POTUS followers.

7) Folks—for unity, we need to be able to reach the other side. This is a good thing. That’s what I’m trying to make people realize.

8) I think @Rob_Flaherty said it best here—Biden doesn’t care about twitter followers, but he “does care about communicating with everyone in the country whether they agree with him or not”.

Let’s focus on that greater goal to heal the country by reaching the other side.
