NHS staff are risking their lives every day to save ours. We are overwhelmed that so many people are asking how they can give back. Here is a thread of 10 ways you can show your support, with some of the most wonderful initiatives you can donate to or fundraise for. Please RT 🙏🏻
1) Support a local hospital charity 🏥
Recently @charity_shc gave its 12000 staff an extra paid day of annual leave as well as a free coffee and lunch. Similar initiatives are going on at trusts across the country.
2) Support those delivering hot food to the frontline or donate some coffee pods ☕️
Believe it or not most NHS staff do not have access to hot food overnight. @HumdingersFood have been delivering food to staff and @nhscoffeeappeal helps you to donate coffee pods.
3) Back initiatives supporting the mental health of staff ⭐️
4) Support organisations fighting for NHS staff 👊🏻
Non-profits such as @TheDA_UK have fought for staff throughout this crisis, delivering PPE to the frontline, supporting wellbeing and telling the public the truth. Donate here to give NHS staff a voice: gofund.me/b6138021
5) Support staff against abuse on social media 💙
Looking for a free way to support NHS staff? Post a little blue heart 💙 on your name on your profile on Twitter to show you stand with NHS staff #NHSblueheart
6) Volunteer to help sew scrubs for NHS staff 👚
There has been a shortage of scrubs for many staff throughout the pandemic. To join a local sewing hub join the For the Love of Scrubs Facebook group @OfficialFTLOS
7) Support an air ambulance charity 🚁
Air ambulances are funded almost entirely though donations. Charities such as @airambulancekss have continued their vital work throughout the pandemic. Donate to keep them flying high here: aakss.org.uk/donate
8) Support NHS Charities together 🤝
@NHSCharities represents over 240 NHS charities giving over £1 million a DAY to our NHS. Find out how to fundraise for them or donate here nhscharitiestogether.co.uk
9) Support bereaved families of NHS staff who have died 🖤
The Healthcare Worker Foundation @theHWF is a charity supporting healthcare workers on the frontline. They are also supporting bereaved families of healthcare workers who have died. Donate here: healthcareworkersfoundation.org
10) We know that not everyone is in a position to donate or fundraise especially during these difficult times. There are lots of free ways to support NHS staff such as backing campaigns to allow migrant NHS staff to stay in this country #homeforheroes 🏡
There are so many incredible initiatives out there we would love to give a shout out to. We will keep adding to this thread as we hear about more so please do keep tweeting your suggestions and sharing this thread 😃
Huge thank you to @thinkannethink on Instagram for these beautiful and powerful images #ends
