they don't require masks.

they say they do, but they don't.

the whole thing is absurd.
and since metro won't enforce their BS "requirement," exactly who did they think would?

the people that run metro are utter morons
i'm honestly surprised there haven't been several violent altercations because of the imbecility of the "policy."
the only time metro employees confront riders is when riders ask them for help.

For the people who don't really need it, Metro is a great transit system.

For those who desperately need it, it's a nightmare.
by people who don't really need it, i mean 9-5 office workers who've been teleworking since march. the same people who, when metro is melting down, can afford a surge price uber. they love the theory of metro.
and they love it because they're almost totally immune to it's many failings.

Metro still pushing their BS “required” line in their surveys.

No enforcement, no denial of service.
Are they contemplating enforcement?

Bad idea.

It’s interesting to see the growing ripple effect of people who are realizing just how corrupt, broken and uncaring Metro is. #wmata
Metro’s not some poor little helpless orphan. It’s like a greedy, alcoholic & abusive spouse who blames you for all its problems. And every time it promises to do better, it lets you down and then threatens you and asks for money.
And it has killed A LOT of people

Milan’s transit system saying “all staff on the pitch,” as they reopen from one of the biggest outbreaks in the world.

Look at Metro’s “GM” in comparison.

So embarrassing and screwed up. #wmata
Milan’s post virus service atm.it/en/ViaggiaConN…
The “challenges” the “GM” cites are universal to anyone who works. #amazing #fail

I'm reading articles about "transit after the virus." They all seem to say transit will need more money.

I think that's probably true.

Where's it going to come from though? Every level of government is/going to be broke.
One likely case: Agencies will raid capital funds to cover the operating budgets.

Metro is a poster child for where that ends up.
Congestion pricing seems too elastic to make a huge difference, and with super high unemployment, how many will even be going to work, transit or not?
