I like thinking of drop in as an intercom within your house. Handy to tell someone you’re going to bed, need help, etc. though I still love dropping in across states—with permission. Didn’t realize it worked with Skype, nice. #atia2021

Echo show great when you don’t have voice access. Touch screen. I really need to get better with using routines, too. Tap to Alexa to video chat with Skype. Two taps, super simple. #atia2021

Set routine to change commands to something easy to say for them. Goodnight turns off lights. Personalize any routine. Stack routines to minimize commands. #atia2021

Use a hub to control things like TV, ac, etc which use IR , or fans that use radio freq instead of WiFi. New echo plus and 4th gen have WiFi and zigbee. Fire tv cube has WiFi and infrared. Bluetooth mostly require a hub for Alexa use, because Alexas only controls music. #atia2021

He loves Zigbee, which is like superior radio frequency. Signal gets more reliable when connect multiple devices. Secure and strong, goes through walls, etc. he tries to avoid WiFi because of unreliability. Need to learn more about zigbee. #atia2021

Even if your WiFi goes out, local voice control will still work. This is so important for use. I’d been iffy on Sidewalk extensions, but this does show the benefits. #atia2021

Setting up WiFi devices is such a pain with a lot of steps. Zigbee just automatically finds your Alexa and devices. That’s dreamy. Also don’t need to reset devices on new networks or routers—connect Alexa back to WiFi and zigbee is automatically back. Flexible. #atia2021

Zigbee and Hue bulbs maybe not cheapest upfront but saves time and energy long term in how it stays connected so much better. #atia2021

Basically I want the pandemic to be over so we can hire people to come in and set stuff up for my family. I COULD do it. Probably. Maybe. But there’s so much to know, I want to defer to experts. But I have ideas for my bro, a coworker, a friend, etc. #atia2021
