I had planned on going to digital accessibility, but then my manager put in my annual review that I need to work on self care. Ergonomics for professionals, here we come! #atia2021
This looks like my set up, ha. I sit on a bench at the kitchen table. Here the table is too high for the kids and too low for the adults. #atia2021
I am fascinated by this middle chair, ha. Ball chairs make me motion sick, ha. I’ve tried. I like this towel option. #atia2021
The top of the screen shouldn’t be higher than the bridge of your nose. I need to redo everything, ha. I sit in a low rocking chair with my desktop and my bench with laptop for work. #atia2021
Give your eyes a break! Rest and refocus on the distance, cover your eyes for 20 seconds, etc. 20/20/20 rules: Every 20 minutes, take a break for 20 seconds to look at something 20 feet away. #ATIA2021
Making changes in the afternoon after hours of work...never considered that! And I am so terrible about drinking water through the day. #ATIA2021
This is handy—I learned over this conference that I need to change up where I work and not just spend hours at the kitchen table. The floor may be an option. #atia2021
Take breaks for your eyes and body and hands. Reduce repetitive movement. Eat meals and drink water during the day. I really need to be intentional during my days. Like Elisa and Cathy, I dismiss my watch when it tells me to stand and drink water, ha. Unhelpful. #atia2021
Calm has a chrome extension! Elisa has it set up to stop her to take a vision break before social media or work email. That is awesome. (Id get annoyed with it, but I know it would be so beneficial.) #atia2021
People suggest having someone take a picture of you working—that will be a good thing for me, I think. And maybe I should find a kitchen chair with a back, ha. I see where a lot of my aches and pains come from. #atia2021
I should probably also not sit criss cross applesauce on my bench and in, honestly, all of my chairs. My joints are already deteriorating, I don’t need to make my body work even harder. I will add this to my work goals for 2021. #ATIA2021
Time for the LAST SESSION OMG! Put me in coach, let’s talk coaching models. #atia2021
I love this interaction. She showed a live time result of a form asking our positions, and this is the audience defining “coach.” #atia2021
Authentic. Collaborative. Help others reach their goals. Leave your island and perspective and sit with theirs. Pre-set answers may not meet needs or be overall best. Tell what’s best and things can get abandoned, less buy in. #atia2021
I was wavering between teletherapy sessions to get activity ideas, but then I saw Karen Erickson was presenting so time to learn about Projext Core! #atia2021
This is just so incredible. These modules and their implementation with teachers and families is life changing for so many. One in chat is looking to offer in Spanish, another used Jamboard to make interactive activities for caregiver learning. #atia2021
I remain crushed that the teaching about racism session was canceled and am not sure what is a good replacement this morning. I think communication and coaching in COVID. #atia2021
Huh, again with low tech instead of light tech. That feels like a step back in terms of vocabulary. #atia2021
Invite your tablet as another zoom person!! That’s excellent. #atia2021
Okay, universal accessibility via captioning! #atia2021
Post production captions can take four times as long to do as the length of the video. Yes, that’s definitely our experience! I have a par timer who does this for our vids and it’s most of what she does. #atia2021
Wow. Hit multiple keys at once to create “beautiful words” in real time. Create personalized database of common words. Voice Writing is used in courtrooms and military. This is very interesting. Europe uses it a lot too, under a different name. This is fascinating. #atia2021
All right, moving in to interactive and engaging tools for accessible instruction. #atia2021
Small sample of tech for UDL. How to present lessons, how to show mastery of topic. #atia2021
YES! UDL isn’t found on IEPs. The more universally designed, the fewer accommodations needed. It doesn’t water down curriculum and results, it broadens and supports it. Kids don’t stick out because everyone is benefitting and self directing. #atia2021
All right, let’s learn effective use of Alexa in the home! #atia2021
Auditory feedback, nice. Handy for when it’s out of the line of sight. #atia2021
I like thinking of drop in as an intercom within your house. Handy to tell someone you’re going to bed, need help, etc. though I still love dropping in across states—with permission. Didn’t realize it worked with Skype, nice. #atia2021
