The @academy_cv webinar, with the respected Jesse Marsch, is underway...

"There a lot of young coaches in Germany who have been influenced by Ralf Rangnick. Every coach has interpreted Ralf in their own way, but Thomas Tuchel did that really well at PSG."

#CVLiveMarsch
"I spent quite a bit of time at Leipzig when Ralph Hasenhuttl was there. He has a really good way of communicating with people, and of investing in relationships. At moments like this that's what becomes important. Managing difficult moments."

#CVLiveMarsch
"I've often get the question 'How do you get your team to buy in to the way you want to play?'. There's two ways you create that – your tactical details, and the mentality.

"I [also] learned a lot from Ralf and how Germans use vocabulary to make things simple."

#CVLiveMarsch
"Alle Gemeinsam – All Together.

"[When we press] the trust and commitment to go together frees players to be aggressive. Our pressing is ball-oriented. We believe when we attack all the way, we will outnumber opponents, and increase our chances of winning it."

#CVLiveMarsch
"Every time our players step in to win the ball they immediately play it forwards. Pressing to see how quickly you can create chances, and score goals.

"You have to make sure that all players around the ball are ready to press. It's a commitment for everyone."

#CVLiveMarsch
"It's important our players behind the ball are built to be good at aerial duels. We [also] often say don't head the ball down into the midfield because the opponent is ready to win second balls.

"It's not just tactics. It's strategy."

#CVLiveMarsch
"Sometimes when coaches use vocabulary they wlll complicate things, instead of simplifying things. Working with Germans has taught me how important it is to be clear and concise."

#CVLiveMarsch
"Even more [important] than the style of play is the strategy. It's not just a style of play, it's way of life. Being more aggressive is always better than being more passive.

"It has to be a big part of the way we think, work, do everything."

#CVLiveMarsch
"There are some well-known names and faces here. I'm going to focus on [a lower-profile] one – Aaron Long.

"He chose to come to us, and trusted us. He learned how to play centre-half; we taught him our mentality. Now he's captain of the US national team."

#CVLiveMarsch
"In high-level football you meet way too many 'fixed' mentality people. You want 'growth' mentalities. Those committed to the process. It's incredibly important."

#CVLiveMarsch
"Fatigue is not always a physical barrier, it's a mental barrier. Teaching players to empty to tank. 'You commit to it with every ounce of energy that you have.'

"You give everything you have as a group to be better than they opponent."

#CVLiveMarsch
"I've learned that as much as the language is important it's your body language, that transfers to the players. There's a common vocabulary and common mentality that gets used that's as important as how well I speak to German."

#CVLiveMarsch
"We use our principles, and then we form tactics and match plans around it. That's really important, and a lot of fun. It's about against the best opponents giving yourself the best chance."

#CVLiveMarsch
"It's about controlling the environment. It's our job as coaches to raise the intensity and level at which the players are playing so that they grow, and get better. That's part of the skill of a coach – how to manipulate training. The best are able to do that."

#CVLiveMarsch
"Yes [there's still a place in football for players like Ozil].

"He's an incredibly talented player whose career was sidetracked. As the intensity in England grew it became difficult.

"Lionel Messi is the best player in history but we wouldn't go after him."

#CVLiveMarsch
"I don't want to come across like I think I have it all figured out. I'm not saying this is the best way to do things. It's [just] the way we do things."

Jürgen Klopp doesn't expect Virgil van Dijk to play again this season. Our coaches look at how big of a miss he is for both Liverpool's defence and attack 🔴 #LFC
Van Dijk’s role for Liverpool is that of a leader. Despite being right-footed, he plays on the left side of central defence, and is perfectly comfortable there. He exudes confidence, and brings an important calming presence to the heart of Liverpool’s defence 🔴 #LFC
He marshals their defensive line and therefore plays a key role in Liverpool’s counter-press, pushing their aggressive, high line forwards to reduce the amount of space opponents have to play in 🔴 #LFC

A THREAD! 👇 After a disjointed first season, Tanguy Ndombele is starting to show Tottenham fans glimpses of his true potential. Our coaches reveal how the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and José Mourinho's tactics have contributed to this 🇫🇷 #THFC
Tanguy Ndombele struggled in his first season at Spurs, in part due to problems with his fitness but also because of their lack of a high-quality holding midfielder. There wasn’t a player who could do the essentials alongside Ndombele and allow the Frenchman to thrive ⚪ #THFC
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, signed from Southampton, can do just that. With Hojbjerg alongside him, Ndombele has the freedom to work in the areas he is most comfortable. Spurs therefore have a player in midfield who can carry the ball forward and turn defence into attack ⚪ #THFC

A THREAD! 👇 After coaching his home country, Mark Hughes became Blackburn's manager. Looking back on his time in charge, he talks about wanting to overrun teams, the physical tag his side was labelled with and going up against SIr Alex Ferguson and José Mourinho 🔵⚪ #Rovers
🗣️ "When I took over, I think they were second from bottom. It was only a handful of games into the new season but it was a difficult situation – Graeme Souness had left for Newcastle and I don’t think the club was quite prepared for a managerial change."

🔵⚪ #Rovers Image
🗣️ "The squad had a strong core of players I felt comfortable with. There was a good group of senior players – the likes of Garry Flitcroft and Brad Friedel, who was an outstanding goalkeeper – and some good young players too, and their work ethic was exceptional."

🔵⚪ #Rovers Image
