did you know that #Detroit once had a #Chinatown? it was raized twice due to urban renewal. these same racist policies also displaced Black Bottom/Paradise Valley and Latinx community along Bagley/96 intersection. MGM Casino is where the first Chinatown was located.
while metro #Detroit likes to present itself as racially, culturally and ethnically diverse, it is not racially, culturally or ethnically integrated. we're all concentrated into separate communities bc urban planning is inherently racist, anti Black and anti Indigenous.
until we address racial covenants like urban renewal, block busting, redlining, predatory lending and housing practices, neo-colonial practices like mass foreclosures, school closures, water shutoffs, land grabbing and gentrification will perpetuate displacement of BIPOC folx.
oh yeah. one more thing...it also doesn't help that #Detroit is one of these most surveilled cities in the whole country. just ask Thug'n Duggan @MayorMikeDuggan about project "green light". surveillance is not safety. @Combsthepoet

one of the ways the violence of capitalism is expressed is when you cannot distinguish manic episodes from productivity. #mentalhealth
productivity is not a measure of quality of life. it's maddening to think that you can literally risk your life working 40 hours/week and still not make ends meet while also having to deal with the psychic aftermath all on your own. this should not be normal.
what's worse is that the non profit sector is just as bad (if not worse II n some cases) as the private sector when having to balance #mentalhealth while serving others and only marginally being able to subsist.
