I am not implying that pro-life institutions breed sick and twisted child sexual abusers.

But the repressive attitudes of extremist evangelical Christianity do result in providing cover for people with horrific behaviours and values.

The Catholic Church’s expectation of celibacy for Catholic priests attracts those who seek opportunity for abuse. The trust bestowed to people who wrap themselves in religious faith and restricted sexual expression is an attractive vocation for those with repugnant behaviour.

Religious fundamentalism is not the cause of sexual perversion. It’s a career that provides opportunity for covert abuse because the expectation is that the trusted individual is closer to god. And their motives should not be questioned.

Just like the Boy Scouts didn’t cause pedophilia. It was the convenient access to unsupervised children that attracted pedophiles to participate in the organization.

Zealous religious faith and sexuality creates opportunity for perversion.

And since sexuality is so decidedly and indisputably repressed by the radicalized devoutly faithful, it provides the perfect unscrutinized shroud for unthinkable acts.

I doubt this young man is the only individual with deviant sexual desires within the “pro-life” movement.
