welp
nothing wrong with understanding worst case scenarios and encouraging people to look out for the welfare of others, and we should all do our part, but doom prognostication will never go out of style and it’s fine to say huh this doesn’t logically add up
this is where I say everyone should wear masks and not be assholes and wreck it for everyone but I also think the covid variant doomsaying is understudied and overwrought. some of it is well meaning & earnest, & some of it is just capitalizing on the high of freaking people out
this is still my basic sticking point. behavior is so widely varied there’s still no data indicating the virus itself has been isolated as the constant vs a vast array of inconsistent practices peppered so randomly throughout populations you’re never comparing apples to apples
wear masks. minimize if not eliminate unnecessary interactions. get a vaccine and/or help others get vaccines. losing your shit over the hypothetical behaviors of understudied variants doesn’t benefit anyone.

now I’m not very smart but it would seem to me the children of unemployed parents would be at the highest risk of poverty and therefore need aid the most

every ballpark should either have identical dimensions, or every ballpark should be so comically different that scores routinely range from 49-38 to 1-0
it’s so incredibly absurd that instead of just having a dimension rule baseball has a range of allowable dimension options. either have a rule or let people put the outfield wall one foot behind second base

I’m not gonna amplify the content on purpose but professional cretins like michael tracey & david reboi are part of an elite goon strike force who recognize the crisis of AOC recounting her capitol experience & immediately go crashing in with the shittiest takes possible
they want to get dunked on as hard as possible so the more sophisticated members of the goon squad can say shit like welllllllll I don’t agree with how they said it all BUT

honestly, the churn-em-out political book industry and the bizarre downstream effects caused by its gross incentive structure is one of the most under discussed aspects of the modern state of alternate reality politics
there’s increasing evidence a lot of these books exist solely as money laundering vehicles to relocate PAC money into campaigns without leaving a clear trail. it’s a very fascinating scheme that’s not yet reached broad awareness
one of the funnier genres of trump tweets were his constant book promotions of books by all the MAGA mill hacks, the most obvious paid commercials of the era

the calculus here is expectations are low but by having the conversation joe gets the upper hand in narrating the who’s who of unreasonable players
