Each year, about 5,200 gun shows are held across the US, attracting thousands. Many individuals who would otherwise not be able to purchase a firearm, can do so w/out a background check there.

My Firearm Risk Protection Act would prohibit the sale of a firearm to a person who isn't covered by appropriate liability insurance — helping to ensure they use & store their gun responsibly.

Currently, background check records must be destroyed w/in 24hrs, not nearly enough time to audit the system to ensure it's working properly or to detect gun trafficking & suspect purchasing patterns.
