The Square Enix Music official page has released a screenshot of what the special program looks like. This one is of Cloud and it asks the question (to Toriyama):
"What was the reason you had when making this song to use mainly during battle scenes?"
The program will be first talking about the song Tightrope as it is used in many different battle sequences, with a very nerve-wracking but powerful feeling. They are asking Music Supervisor Kawamori about it.
They wanted to put a new song into the trailer, so they decided to use Tightrope to bring a new feel. At first they weren't sure if they should add too many new songs, but they found that it did fit into the FF7R atmosphere.
Kawamori mentions that the Bombing Mission song in the original had some pretty loud clanging sounds, and he and Ise discussed how to change it so it fit the Remake. They were able to find a good balance by changing it but still paying homage to the original song.
Kawamori and Ise mentions that Kitase and Uematsu had different visions of how the songs should go since they had worked on the original, and Kawamori and Ise tried to work closely to make sure the songs fit the image they were looking for.
Ah, hold on, he actually sang with the chorus! He says he remembers it happened when he just joined Square Enix, and he was still quite young at that time haha.
Toriyama and Suzuki held an audition for foreign artists abroad, and they had a lot of people who auditioned. Toriyama were also thinking maybe checking YouTube if there would be some talent as well.
Toriyama says that Suzuki is always going to places abroad and leaves Toriyama in Japan as he goes abroad lol. Toriyama is like "you always choose the coolest looking studios!!" as he talks to Suzuki via Zoom lol.
Suzuki mentions "Stand Up" is a very bluesy song, so it was interesting to think about how to change the instruments so that it would work with an orchestra arrangement.
Toriyama said that when they were deciding on the Juke Box songs, they were thinking about what kind of music people living in Midgar would listen to and what type of music would play in a restaurant's entrance, store, etc.
Toriyama wanted the music for FF7R to be like a soundtrack for a movie moreso than a game. He thinks that the team was able to really compose something that fit that movie soundtrack image he had.
He mentions that although experiencing the music during a concert is different than a livestream, he still hopes that everyone will still be able to enjoy the music and arrangements that they have planned for the concert!
Thanks everyone for joining the Special Program thread! I will have the FF7R Orchestra Concert thread in a separate on and will link it later after the concert has finished.
The FF7R Orchestra Concert live tweets from me will be in this thread! I'll use the hashtag #FF7ROC so everyone can keep track with info from the concert as it happens!
Here's the entire Set List, which includes an intermission in between.
Let's mosey!✨
Based on the Set List, the orchestra seems like it will be at least 2 hours long, perhaps longer with the Encore and Intermission.
Any announcements or surprise guests will likely be towards the end of the concert.
FF7R Producer Kitase and Co-Director Hamaguchi talked a bit about Part 2 during the CEDEC conference! Here's the excerpt's translation.
Kitase mentions for Part 2, they want to deliver something that will live up to everyone's expectations but also throw them off, in a good way.
It took me a while to translate Kitase's quote because I was having trouble finding the right words to translate 「いい意味で裏切る」(literally "a betrayal in a good way"). I interpreted it as surprising the audience by going beyond their expectations but to "throw them off."
Here's the Japanese transcription of that part of his quote: そこには原作知ってるからこそ思ったものを届けられる場合もあれば、もっと「あ、こうなってたんだ」の驚きもあったり、期待に答えるのといい意味で裏切るのとっていうのを原作があるからこそ、そこうまく表現し楽しみに変えられる作品
All right CEDEC+ Kyushu 2020 Online, let's see what interesting info about the FF7R development Kitase and Hamaguchi have to say!
I'll post highlights or interesting info starting now! The event has started, and you can sign up here to get the event link: peatix.com/event/1750894/…
MC Question: How did the Remake become an actual thing?
Kitase: It was a decision made after speaking with Nomura and Hashimoto. In particular, Hashimoto mentioned he always wanted to make a game like Advent Children, and it became a project after much discussion.
Kitase says that tons of people thought that the first PV for FF7R was for another movie, but when they put the FF7 Meteor logo at the end, he thinks lots of people probably lost their minds that it would be a game lol.
Interesting bits from a 15 page interview on FF7R that's released in tomorrow's Famitsu:
-The next installment is already in full development
-They couldn't go further with the Madam M massage scene otherwise ratings would go up
-Roche was supposed to have a battle in Ch. 14
Just gonna reply to this thread with a compilation of other new info tidbits:
Boku No Hero Academia Spin Off -Team Up Mission- Chapter 1 Summary thread! Class 1A aren't divided into teams just yet, but they're currently patrolling along with All Might in the city when they encounter a little boy called Tsuyoshi, who's quirk is he can harden his hair.
Characters that make an appearance in this chapter, which is only 19 pages, are the following:
Other characters are the villains that stole Tsuyoshi's soccer ball.
The chapter starts off with Tsuyoshi approached by a group of thugs that threaten him and steal his ball, but he's saved by All Might (in his muscle form). AM introduces himself and Deku to Tsuyoshi, but then he loses his muscle form and Deku explains that this is the real AM.
