Horrible—People with learning disabilities have been given do not resuscitate orders in 🇬🇧. Mencap reports many with LD had been told they would not be resuscitated if with #COVID19–which caused 65% of deaths of people with LD recently, vs 39% general pop. theguardian.com/world/2021/feb…
2) “The Care Quality Commission said in December that inappropriate Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) notices had caused potentially avoidable deaths last year.”
3) “DNACPRs are usually made for people who are too frail to benefit from CPR, but Mencap said some seem to have been issued for people simply because they had a learning disability. The CQC is due to publish a report on the practice within weeks.”
4) “There is growing evidence that even those with a mild disability are more likely to die if they contract the coronavirus.”
5) “Although some people with learning disabilities such as Down’s syndrome were in groups set by Joint Committee on Vaccination & Immunisation (JCVI) that UK govt promised would be offered the vaccine soon, many were classified lower categories of need and are still waiting.
6) Younger people with learning disabilities aged 18 to 34 are 30 times more likely to die of Covid than others the same age, according to Public Health England. gov.uk/government/new…
7) MENCAP CEO, said: “Throughout the pandemic many people with a learning disability have faced shocking discrimination, with inappropriate Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) notices put on their files and cuts made to their social care support.”
8) “It’s unacceptable that within a group of people hit so hard by the pandemic, and who even before Covid died on average over 20 years younger than the general population, many are left feeling scared and wondering why they have been left out.”

Get ready folks—Mars rover Perseverance is soon landing on Mars on Thursday! It’s the heaviest & hardest landing ever attempting — like landing a car on Mars, and stopping it from velocity of 12,000 miles/hours to zero.

2) “Hitting the 4.8-mile-wide landing site targeted by NASA after a journey of 300 million miles is akin to throwing a dart from the White House and scoring a bull’s eye in Dallas.”
3) “This is one of NASA’s most important endeavors, the first multibillion-dollar Mars mission in nine years and the initial phase of a three-mission campaign to return samples of Martian soil to Earth.”

How it started. How it’s going.

Maybe Texas leaders & @ERCOT_ISO should learn that for power grids, “sharing is caring”. #texaspoweroutage ImageImage
2) Most of the electric failure in Texas is due to thermal power outages. Image
3) Texas has a massive 21 GW deficit right now. Most isn’t from wind. Wind is down 2.6 GW from normal. But that is still small part of total deficit. Image

Not everything is bigger in Texas.

Maybe Texas shouldn’t secede from America... anybody cold out there? #PolarVortex Image
2) Most of Texas’s 21 gigawatt electricity deficit is due to thermal failures. Only small part is wind. Image
3) Thermal energy outages is the main cause. Image

D614G mutation—molecular structure of the #SARSCoV2 spike protein with the D614G mutation, which allows it to attach to cells easier. Although it’s a mutation compared to Wuhan 1.0, this is already the predominant “common” version being replaced by #B117. pnas.org/content/pnas/1… Image
2) The spike protein is found on the surface of the virus and is responsible for its ability to attach to and invade human cells. The D614G mutation first appeared in Summer 2020 and the strain with this mutation quickly became dominant around the world.
3) The researchers found that this mutation changes the structure of the spike protein, allowing it to more readily attach to cells.

4 million without power—Texas could have invested in at least 3 things for its frozen wind turbines:

📌water resistant coating on blades

📌more de-icing drones

📌upgrades in heating packages

➡️If they can work atop snow-covered Alps. They can work in Texas.🧵 #PolarVortex Image
2) Yes there is a lot of reports on the wind turbine issue. Texas could have invested in more upgrades, but it didn’t. dallasnews.com/business/energ…
3) I’ve personally witnessed entire wind turbine farms operate normally in middle of snow storms atop several mountains in the Austrian 🇦🇹 Alps before. They build it on top of snow capped mountains. And they use it to power ski lifts 🚡 during winter!

Outbreak of #B1351 variant in Ontario 🇨🇦 condominium high rise—5 cases out of 1,800 total residents and staff. Entire building to be tested “voluntarily” for the reinfection-prone evasive variant from South Africa 🇿🇦. #COVID19 cbc.ca/news/canada/to… Image
2) This #B1351 variant is the one WHO warned about last week for reinfection risk.
3) This is the variant in which prior infection had no protection against, not even severe disease in recently placebo group or Novavax trial.
