1/ Is this acceptable in our Federal Bureau of Prisons? From Reality Winner... Water has been on and off intermittently since 4 pm 2/13. For most of 2/14, there was NO water to a housing unit for 500+ women.
2/ That means no drinking water in the fountains, no sinks to wash hands, and no toilets to flush. Water was not brought into the housing unit in trash cans to flush toilets for 6 hours. Hot water resumed around 10:30 pm 2/14, was out by 0600 2/15.
3/ On a GOOD day in my unit, there is constant competition for the hot water taps for food/hot drinks, and a shower line. Now it's ridiculous. The best I could do yesterday was literally scrub my body with ice cubes from the ice machine before even that ran out due to no water.
4/Now there's a line for shower and hot water taps, but it appears to be stable as of 2/15 11AM, no telling how long that will last. In the meantime, it's been about 60 degrees in here at best, lower in some of the corner rooms due to poor insulation.
5/ We have elderly and chronically ill women in here and have been exposed to all sorts of pathogens in those unsanitary restroom conditions. Everyone is short tempered and ready to fight for any little resource. This is ridiculous.
6/ I'm just glad the sinks and toilets are still working. Something tells me that we're still doing better than other prisons right now and that's scary. I don't think this is what I was sentenced to endure. Reality Winner trying to survive in Carswell Prison.
