"Govt of India should reconsider its decision n grant permission to #SGPC#jatha going to attend centenary of #SakaNankanaSahib, which is a big massacre related to #Sikh history during Gurdwara Reform Movement (in 1921)", said #Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh.
"Sri Nankana Sahib was once in control of mahants who became lecher n perverted in patronage of British Govt. At that time, Khalsa Panth started Gurdwara Reform Movement to take control of Nankana Sahib", said Jathedar Sri Akal Takht.
"When on Feb20 (1921), jatha visited there, it was attacked by goons of mahant Narain Dass n hundreds of Sikhs got martyred with children too. It's been 100 years since that massacre took place. To remember those martyrs, Khalsa Panth is commemorating centenary events", he said.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said in her letters that decision of Govt of India had hurt sentiments of Sikh sangat and Govt should reconsider its decision. (2)
Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “Pilgrims who got visas should be allowed to attend main programmes to be held on February 21 at Sri Nankana Sahib. It is disrespectful to Sikh sentiments to restrict Jatha at last minute despite completion of preparations.” (3)
