"Govt of India should reconsider its decision n grant permission to #SGPC#jatha going to attend centenary of #SakaNankanaSahib, which is a big massacre related to #Sikh history during Gurdwara Reform Movement (in 1921)", said #Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh.
"Sri Nankana Sahib was once in control of mahants who became lecher n perverted in patronage of British Govt. At that time, Khalsa Panth started Gurdwara Reform Movement to take control of Nankana Sahib", said Jathedar Sri Akal Takht.
"When on Feb20 (1921), jatha visited there, it was attacked by goons of mahant Narain Dass n hundreds of Sikhs got martyred with children too. It's been 100 years since that massacre took place. To remember those martyrs, Khalsa Panth is commemorating centenary events", he said.
"In India, events are being organized at Godharpur (Gurdaspur). Govt of India by restricting jatha going to Nankana Sahib done extremely wrong. Reason of Covid-19 is given. In March month, Kumbh is taking place at Haridwar n crores of people r expected to reach there", he said.
"There is no restriction on Kumbh, whereas Kumbh Mela comes after 12 years. But our centenary event being marked on Feb 21, is coming after 100 years n will come again after 100 years. At this moment, putting a restriction by Govt of India is extremely unfortunate", he said.
"This hurt sentiments of Sikhs across world. Since yesterday, from Karachi, Sindh areas, having number of Hindus n Sikhs, received many phone calls, as large sangat there was eagerly waiting to listen to Gurbani Kirtan frm Hazuri Raagis of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib", he said.
"Kathawachak Bhai Pinderpal Singh was scheduled to go there for doing katha. A large number of Hindus n Sikhs were ready to listen to him. They r disappointed due to restriction put on jatha by Govt of India. Raagi Jathas n even Bhai Pinderpal Singh has been stopped", he said.
"I take it as historic mistake of Govt of India n this will be reminded every year. Therefore, Govt of India should rethink as there is still time and complete Jatha should be permitted to go there, so it could mark centenary of #SakaNankanaSahib n remember martyrs", he said.
"Raagi Jathas of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Bhai Pinderpal Singh should also be permitted to go there. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕਾਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ।। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕੀਫ਼ਤਿਹ।।", urged Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Giani Harpreet Singh.
