INVESTMENT UPDATE: Ikun Dairy Farm, which is now fully operational for livestock/milk production following a $5m investment by Promasidor, has procured 250 new cows from Texas to add to the existing ones. 10,000 litres of milk is expected to be produced in the next 18-24 months.
This development is a result of the pact that was sealed on behalf of Ekiti State by the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and the Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Anders Einarsson on July 23, 2019, in Abuja. #InvestinEkiti
This partnership attracted a new investment of $5 million into Ikun Dairy Farm that is being used to purchase equipment, provide the appropriate herd of cattle, and develop an out-grower scheme for providing feed for the cattle. #InvestinEkiti
Over 250 Hectares of land has been cleared for the cultivation of hay, brachiaria and cassava at the Dairy Farm. This land clearing will sustain the out-grower scheme providing feed to the new cows imported from Texas, which is the largest producer of hay in the United States.
As productivity and revenue increase, Ikun Dairy Farm will create hundreds of jobs directly for youths, and indirectly improve the economy of Ikun-Ekiti, neighbouring communities, and Ekiti State at large. #InvestinEkiti
The estimated daily milk production of 10,000 litres within the next 18-24 months will require a speedy and reliable mode of transportation for rapid delivery to local markets and exports. This sector will be a huge economic benefit for the Ekiti Agro-Allied cargo connectivity.
The Ekiti Cargo airport, a supporting enabler of economic growth, will be central to evacuating agricultural products from the Special Agriculture Processing Zone (SAPZ) to distant markets and national/global supply chains swiftly and reliably. #InvestinEkiti
Large quantities of cash crops (cocoa, plantain, oil palm) and staple foods (yam, cassava, maize, rice) from SAPZ will be transported within and outside the country at record speed to ensure the early-to-market advantage. #InvestinEkiti
The Cargo airport is a critical component of this administration’s growth strategy to make Ekiti an agro cargo vehicle, a knowledge hub, and a regional hub serving the southwest and middle belt food basket region; attracting skilled migration to boost IGR;...
improving commercial activity as a “dry port” for fresh and processed products, and making Ekiti State a logistics hub in the agro-allied industry. #InvestinEkiti
The revitalization of the Ikun Dairy Farm is part of the holistic plan of Governor Fayemi’s administration to diversify the state’s economy and sustain continued investments in the agricultural sector. #InvestinEkiti

EKITI LIFTS CURFEW ON STATE AND RESTRICTIONS ON RELIGIOUS WORSHIPS
Ekiti State Government has lifted the curfew imposed on the State with effect from 6am on Sunday, November 1, 2020.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the State Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Hon. Akin Omole explained that the decision to lift the curfew was taken after an assessment of the security situation and the restoration of relative peace in the State.
The commissioner added that the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi @kfayemi also approved the lifting of the restrictions placed on religious gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic #COVID19 with effect from the same date, November 1, 2020.
Today, Governor Fayemi @kfayemi inaugurated members of Ekiti State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Allegations of Human Rights Violations against Police Officers including disbanded SARS Operatives at the Governor's Office, Ado Ekiti.
Governor Fayemi also announced the establishment of a Victims Compensation Fund to enable speedy payment of monetary compensation to deserving victims. This, according to him would enable the panel to respond appropriately to the urgent needs of victims of rights violations.
Governor Fayemi, at the brief event, also apologised to victims of the #ENDSARS protests in the state and assured the people of the state that his government would continue to take deliberate measures to protect lives and properties.
The Government of Ekiti State has observed with growing concern how the #ENDSARS protest, which started as a peaceful protest against police brutality by youths in Ekiti State, has been hijacked by some hoodlums.
The hoodlums have capitalised on the #ENDSARS protest to rape, assault, rob and extort innocent citizens across the State. These are in addition to the wanton destruction of properties, particularly private properties.
Government is concerned that if this state of affairs is allowed to continue unabated, it will lead to a breakdown of law and order thereby threatening the wellbeing of the people of Ekiti State.
