🧵Right now, North Carolina Republicans are having a closed-door meeting on our unemployment system -- without a single House Democrat in the room. Since they refused to put a Democrat on the committee from the NC House, here’s the truth about unemployment:

North Carolina “Republicans made the deepest cuts to any unemployment insurance system in the country” -- and now we are ranked dead last in the amount of benefits folks get. Now they are in a closed-door meeting trying to fix the system they broke.

Thanks to #NCGA Republicans, our state is ranked 45th in the country for length of unemployment benefits -- we need to extend the amount of time folks out of work through no fault of their own get help.

When #NCGA Republicans slashed benefits, they forced unemployed North Carolinians to choose between paying their rent, keeping their lights on, or putting food on the table. These benefits are unlivable -- we need to expand them now.
