The problem for Mississippi Democrats is that Jim Hood probably got 20% white vote in 2019 but that came at a cost. He couldn't generate the necessary enthusiasm among Black voters.
In 2008, Obama got just 11% of the white vote in Missisippi.
The key to a victory for a Democrat in MS is getting enough of the white vote without losing support among Black voters. That used to be much easier in the past when these rural white voters were willing to vote Dem downballot.

Ohio State Rep. Michael O'Brien has faced the same opponent three elections in a row in this Obama/Trump district in eastern Ohio. His crossover support cratered in 2020.
Trump won this district 52-44% in 2016 and 56-43% in 2020.
The Senate district that this district comprises 1/3 of flipped last year. Senator Sean O'Brien was defeated by Sandy O'Brien. None of these people are related though.

Berenson is a professional contrarian. He peddles misinformation and has been elevated by people seeking to find info that confirms their priors.
to right wing critics of mainstream news, Berenson is viewed as a whistleblower. They love to rag on the NYT but Berenson is someone willing to confirm their priors.
Applies to many on the far left too. vaccine skepticism crosses the spectrum

Walter Jones spent the last 15 years of his life atoning for his support of the Iraq War. He wrote a form letter he would sign to the families of every soldier who fell in battle. He personally signed every single one of those letters. No autopen. apnews.com/article/d4553a…
Jones is a man I look up to. I didn't agree with him a lot of stuff but he was a man of real character. He was particularly close with fellow eastern NC Rep. GK Butterfield. Butterfield administered the oath of office to Jones for his final term.
Dems tried wooing him back to the party and he was open to it but he felt his stance on abortion would make him too unwelcome in the party these days.

Rep. Virginia Foxx has a primary challenger. She will be 79 on election day and it's unclear if she's even running again. Hines is a former NC State football player.
Foxx is notorious for being one of the very worst bosses in Congress.
But if Foxx retires, a much much bigger name will get in the race. Speaker Tim Moore is all but certain to run.
